hi all.

the voice of my vp's dash dosnt talk to me...but the radio was removed by the last owner (swine). would this cause the voice not to work???

also has anyone had rust in thier maestro in the seams that the door rubbers sit over.

ive got it along the bottom, by the roof and down the sides but i have never seen this happen before even after owning 7 maestros!!!

all external pannels (rear arches, doors, wings etc) are near perfect.

Yes I believe it does, try a search on the forum for it.

PS:- I am sure it is no coincidence that the anagram of Maestro is Seam Rot ;)

Yes both are common problems. To make the dash talk without a radio (or with a non standard one) you have to do a simple wiring alteration to provide an earth connection so the lady/darlek can moan at you. If you do a forum search I think tony posted it up many moons ago.

As for the door seems rotting yes this is very common particularly on the older cars. The door seals trap moisture between them and the door seam which causes rust to get into the seem between the two panels and it creeps all over the place.

Yeah, to make the lady speak you have to earth the speaker system. At the radio multiplug, connect the black wire to both speaker wires with black traces.

Sadly the rot at the seam is standard fitment on all cars in my experience. Either replace the metal or take out all the flakes, rub it down, treat it with Jenolite, paint it and then gum it up with waxoyl...
