View Full Version : Not impressed!

I don't mean to cause any trouble here but i was not very impressed when i read the thread entitled Right!!!!!
I have only recently joined this forum and have not had much input as of yet however having seen this thread i'm extremely worried about what will happen if i do.
Quite frankly the thread confused me. Probably because i didn't know the history of it, but what i took from it was a general annoyance at the MMOC and many of the committee members, why this is i don't know,
But what struck me most about the thread was the MMOC's reaction.
To my mind they seemed to just ignore it and brush it under the carpet rather than tackle the problem. D428 CHO mentioned it is impossible to please all of the people all of the time, but surely in customer service you should at least try!
Basically my point is i was pleased to find a forum and a club for my car, I was seriously considering joining the club however have been put off due to these problems.
The problems alone weren't the real reason as yes you can't please all of the people all of the time but there was no attempt made to rectify this problem which is what i found most upsetting.

As a member of the club for some time now and a very regular reader of these forums I think I'm fairly well qualified to answer your question and hopefully put your mind at rest a bit.

I watched that thread kick off on Friday night and really it is quite out of character for that type of thing to appear in the MMOC fora. In my opinion that kind of thread in no way reflects badly on the committee or the club because people with axes to grind are very few among us. It is a credit to D428 CHO that he hasn't just removed that thread in an attempt to 'sweep it under the carpet'.

I reflected on this on Sunday afternoon at the Nene Park rally as we all met up on the MMOC owners stand and enjoyed meeting each other once more and chatting about Maestro-orientated things and admiring each others' cars. That's what the club is really about - keeping these under-rated cars on the road and meeting up every now and again to compare notes.

I can assure you that without fail every committee member I've met and had contact with has been very helpful and far more professional than their enthusiast status may suggest. At the very least we forum members should extend them the same courtesy.

MGJOX - I read from your profile that you are from Oxon (under your occupation?) Do you live anywhere near me? It would be good to meet another forum member and then start putting faces to names.:)

after looking at this thread ,to me it looks like just one member who was having a very bad day and vented his anger on the forums ,i think this was just a one off, just one of those things as they say.rather than a problem with the club

Well, that "one member" hasn't been on the Forums since.

Lighten up ;) What's all this paranoia about recently?

I don't think anything was 'swept under the carpet', that wasn't the intention. We left the thread open a while and asked for any constructive suggestions that might be forthcoming but nothing positive came out of it so we closed it (inviting any further comments by PM). Wouldn't you have done the same?

Unless it's clear a) what the problem is, and b) what we're expected to do about it then our hands are tied. It's not to say that nobody cares but please don't forget there's no question of "customer service" here because this is a free web site run by a members' club - we don't have customers, think about it ;) I'm a member of that club, and also an elected unpaid volunteer, nothing more. In the limited spare time I have available to me I'll try my best to diplomatically moderate these forums and I'll listen/help to the best of my ability where things go wrong...

...or alternatively I could just be completely inaccessible, hide in the background, remove any threads that say anything I disagree with, get rid of users posting things I disagree with and decline to comment on anything like this. But then we're not a big corporation, we're a small friendly organisation with nothing to hide so I don't feel that would be appropriate.

By rights this thread should not be here after the other was closed, but I won't get in the way of sensible conversation.

:censored: I've tried my hardest to resist commenting on this issue - but now I am going to.

I find it hard to believe any users on this forum feel this way - you just have to look through the old threads to see how much friendly help, advice and encouragement is shared amongst us.

Every show I have attended over the three years I have been a member has been an enjoyable event. Committee members welcomed me so warmly in my first year I have been treasurer since. Myself, and all the other committee members (particularly D425CHO) spend MANY hours behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly: website, events, magazine, parts stock, regalia.... Not only are we trying our hardest to provide the best club we can, we have to fight prejudice against the cars we try to promote virtually week.

27 cars attended our national event on Sunday - and I confidently guess every single member / non-member who attended spoke to at least 10 other members. Committee members were still up at 11:30pm helping members who were arriving late to set there tents in the dark - and up at 8am setting up the stand. Nobody has ever been excluded from an event unless there have brought the club into disrepute.

Enough moaning. Jon provides the best website and magazine in the car club world, Tom looks after new members very efficiently, thanks to Zoe we attend all the best shows and always have a great day, because of Maria my car can have new drive shafts for less than the price of one cv gater, we've got the best regalia because of Rich's hard work and if i do say so myself the accounts are in fantastic order. And of course, Simon runs the best damn AGM you will ever attend. ;)

I find it disheartening that some member’s think we are sat here doing nothing. We work 40hrs+ a week too.

Dave.

I agree totally! You all do a fantastic job at running the club and this website and there should be more praise for you. Keep up the good work!

I've told Jonathan recently (regarding the RIGHT!!!!! thread) that the vast majority of us appreciate the work he does. Thank you all the above members for stating this independently!

I fell into the trap of not mentioning the other Committee Members, but they are all appreciated as well. Especially the cheap 'metric' remould tyres from Scotland...

I agree wholeheartedly with the above five posts. I have been using these forums for the last three years or more and have always found everyone to be friendly and helpful. The same goes for the events I have attended. I think the committee members do a great job of running the club and that's that.

well done i say, the club is briliant and my thanks go to those who run it. i spend a fair ammount of time doing voluntry work on top of a 40 hour week at work, i actually enjoy it most of the time & i can imagine how you felt at the comments made

the thing that annoyed me most about that thread was that a new member now thinks we are all at war and bitching all the time. I can assure him/her that this is definitely not the case.

im not putting anymore down on this thread because i think enough has already been saidcheers
