Simple question..

I need the doors off.. looks like dash out to get to some of the nuts.. ??

Ive a patch of rust to weld up between the doors on both side fornt , and the front 1/4 pannels .. on the main frame.

Any hints / tips?

Yes, I believe you have to take out the dash to get to the bolts for the front doors...

You can get the doors off with the dash still on but it is awkward. Why not repair them whilst they are still on the car?

the rots not on the doors...

Its on the.. Pillar bit between the doors and the front 1/4 on the main chassis..

it might be ablue to be done on the car , but arkward

Do you mean the bottom of the A-Pillar where the seam is? No need to take the door off for that, just mask up sensibly.

I took off my dash and the support brackets either side in order to remove both my front doors. This will give you unparallelled access to all areas and isn't as daunting as it seems. You don't need to remove the steering column if you are careful.

I find the hardest part of removing a dashboard is disconnecting the speedo cable, the rest is dead easy despite the '58 spanner rating' and 'this is really really difficult' warnings given in Haynes. Only on the very early Montegos and pre-Mk II Maestros do you have to loosen the steering column, and that's only a few moments extra work.

It makes removing the front doors extremely easy, in fact it's a lot easier than wrestling with the door hinge pins with a drift, which is the alternative.

Graham, at least is isn't a Mk1 dash you have to take out - I have 2 to do :fim:
