Hello . . .thanks for all your help . . replaced the head gasket today . . .started first time, and runs like a dream!!

Only thing is . . .there was loads of mayonaise in the bit above the sump area . . .and when it is warm and I take the oil filler cap there is still loads of steam etc pumping out . . . .I am hoping this is just all the water left in the engine from when the gasket was blown . . . .anyone know how to get the mayo out of the engine . . .

and even more interestingly . . .why did the mayo not go to the sump????

thanks . . . .money

Did you change the oil aswell?

If you didn't change the oil do it now!

If you did it might take a few changes of oil to mop up the water which is spread throughout the engine.. a little water makes a whole lot of mayo. The perfect example is the small amount of condensation in the 1.6 S petrol engines which generates a whole lot of mayo!

Also just check that it isn't leaking any more water.

Let us know if it doesn't clear up soon.

If it is a tiny bit of mayo left take it on a long hot run (motorway for an hour etc) And that'll soon boil any remaining water off
