View Full Version : Bidet problems...

My car appears to have developed a strange problem with its rear-wash-wipe! Every time I go over a speed bump, the nossle squirts water all over the rear screen! This is mighty annoying, especially when I spend a good couple of hours washing the car the previous night and it ends up with water stains all over it!
Anyone got any ideas?

Very peculiar! Is it a definite squirt or a dribble? I mean, is the pump actually pumping water for a second or two?
Unable to keep my pedantic muscle at bay: it's bidet not beday. Sorry -0 I can't help it.

Someone feel free to edit - it's not a word I would normally use ;)
Erm I don't think it's the pump squirting, but it is managing to reach the top of the rear screen...
Oh dear, I have an incontinent car :toothy:

Ah yeah, that's a known problem.
I thought it had stopped it when I replaced the nozzle for one that wasn't partially blocked, but alas it seems that this isn't the case. Unless, of course, it has become blocked again?!
I think that there is supposed to be a one-way valve in the pipe, just after it goes from the tailgate into the passenger compartment. F153 had one. Maybe fit one and see if that stops it?
Anyway, you're already better off than when I got the car: none of the washers worked. The front two are Ledders parts, fitted out of desparation at Parkway services after we had to keep stopping to douse the windscreen with water every 10 miles on the way there, and the rear one kind of fell into my pocket when I was looking at a car in the scrapper.

Hmm I may be able to nobble one off my scrap car for the rear... The front ones are a tad weedy to say the least, also, so I may have a faff with them when I rehang the bonnet at weekend...

Yeah, it ocurrs to me that the front motor may be knackered. Perhaps replace that to increase flow.
Good luck!

Does the motor run when you press the button? If not, then it'll most likely be an electrical fault. If it does run but no water comes out, take a pin and carefully poke it down the nossle to make sure there are no blockages in the small opening...:)

For squirting when you go over bumps check the vent hole in the top of the bottle isn't blocked.
