or are Metro's just a bit dull, Montegos and Maestros are great, but i've never liked the metro.

When my brother passed his driving test, my parents saw a Metro for sale - it was in good nick as well. But bro said "Don't want a metro, they're too small!" I suggested he could get a maestro, but he then bought a ratty Peugeot 309 from a neighbour instead! There's no accounting for some people's taste!

Problem is that they are too small and dangerous. Obviously each to their own and people say I'm mad to enthuse about the Maesty but I, too, dislike the metro.

And the Rover 100, which is not a Rover 100, no matter what anyone says. It's a Metro and owners should resign themselves to this fact.

Calling the Metro a rover 100 would be like BMW selling the original Mini with a BMW badge on as the new Mini. Actually while we're on the subject why oh why did BMW call it the Mini 1? It is plain to see that we already have a Mini 1, have had for years.....

Ah, that's much better.

I almost bought one once. I went to see it-a dark blue 1275 automatic..not too shabby I thought. It had a TINY steering wheel on it, and it had a "padded" roof..like puffy vinyl covered. I figured that wasn't genuine, and the roof was probably rotten.

I drove it, the accellerator jammed open and I launched it over a speedbump.. I got it back to the buyer and RAN away..he wanted £400 for it!!

I found it noisy, bouncy, and not to my liking..but I was only in it for about 10 minutes..all other MK1 metros i've been in are broadly the same though..give me a Maestro/Monty anyday...or a mini..I like them..the BL ones that is..:)

Don't mind the look of the Metro but I wouldn't own one - as F153 says, far too dangerous. The Maestro is hardly an ENCAP test winner but at least it has size on its side. My mum has a Rover 100 and it is nippy enough, but it bounces around a lot and doesn't offer a very comfortable ride. At the risk of angering a few people, I have to admit to not much liking to look of the Montego though...

Don't like the metro...only the rover 100 series is more to my taste i.e. 1.4 Gsi with alloys, walnut interior and charcoal metallic paint - perfect (for me anyway). Have to say that the Metro has a fascinating history. There were many limited editions. The metro studio of 1981 came with air con and electrics! Look at the links section of this website. And what about the 6R4?

Now the 6R4 was a metro and a half! :)

Taken from this week's Oxford Star:
"Metros are the cars most wanted by Oxford criminals. They are being targeted so frequently that police are advising owners to take extra security - jokingly suggesting owners park their vehicles in their living rooms....."

The thing I really hate about them is the deep set headlights on the orginal Metro. Horrible

What, do you mean bezelled headlamps? Well, thats just like Maestro vans. I going too keep those on my van as they give the appearance of the vehicle more character. (Well, that's my opinion anyway!)

Well I have to say I like Metro's - always have done and always will. Much more character than a F*rd Fiesta. I had my first driving lesson in the first of the BSM Metro's with the large cone shaped roof badge (Can still remember the number plate, it was BAR 182X)
Later on, 'er indoors had a Metro 1.4 Auto. Boy could that car shift!
