New Drivers Door Wanted (and spotted recently).....

I'm sure when I was at the MGM day I saw someone with a replacement Drivers door in the usual Rover black primer for sale.

Am I right? If it's still for sale, and if the owner's comming to Peterborough, then bring it and I'll happily part with some English pounds.

Failing that, does anyone have a new (still in primer) driver's door for a Maesty?

I accidently poked holes through ours the other day. Teach me to wonder why that bit of the door was painted with zinc primer.

Anyone ever galvanised a door?

no... not sure about galvanising maestro doors, theyd prob end up way too heavy to even open or shut the amount of antirust stuff you'd need to put on there... why is the metal so rust prone?

It's more the design - the way that after a while the weatherstrip becomes a little loose, the water drips down, and gets caught between the door frame and skin. I've just reskinned a door and intend to put plenty of sealer along the inside of the door where the join is, and fit a new weatherstrip.

if anyone wanted to create one that lasted forever you could get one hot dip galvanised (like trailer chassis) that would make them harder to paint but they'd last a lot longer!

who would want to paint them ,what about a bumper sticker saying,mine is i rust free zone,or what about my other car is a deloren

If anyone ever found out who had the press moulds too I could suggest some far more rust resistant steel to make them from.

been to the rover dealer today to pick some supension bushes,while i was there i priced up a drivers door,are u sitting down it was £380 inculding vat wow,they are now obsolete, they have one left at york rover,one left and there is no discount as well i think i will be seeing maria first,.that door will be at york for a while yet
