that i know of
maestro have 3 speed auto boxs
montego did 4 speed auto
what i want to know is , did they do a 4 speed auto maestro ?

Not as standard, Tony, basically because auto-transmission Maestros were only ever fitted with 1.6 S-series engines. As far as I'm aware, even on the Montego this engine was never mated with a four-speed auto box as standard. Neither am I aware of any Maestro trim-level other than MG which received an O-series engine. If there is an O-series auto Maestro out there, it will have been converted from a 1.6/1.3 or an MG (the latter would be simpler, I guess)

I thought that too, but recently went and raided an R-Series Maestro auto in the scrapper. They do exist!

Anyway, for the record, I agree completely with everything else you said... :)
