It does look nice, opaline green is a rare colour for VPs as well.

What a cracker! I really love that colour on the 'Stro as well. Almost as nice as zircon blue!

Someone *Has* to buy that motor! Go on it's only £750! Quick, sell your old tired Maestro and upgrade to a low mileage VP, you know it makes sense.

This is a corker of a car - special in the true sense of the word . Surely someone on here really must want to upgrade to this...

It has the lovely R series, too. My favourite Maesty engine.

:suspect:

Would be a good match for Dean's Opaline Green VP... :toothy: Looks in excellent original condition.

I must admit to being *extremely* tempted by that particular car. Right reg, right spec, right colour, right condition and I'd argue worth the rather higher than usual asking price too.

There have been quite a few very good low mileage early cars coming out of the woodwork in recent months. It won't go on forever...

Beaker

I wouldn't have said the asking price was high, I would have said about right maybe a little low if it seems as good as it looks.

Go on you know you want to Jon ;)

Is this the Car that was advertised in Classic car weekly a fortnight ago?

Go on Jon (you know you want it), and join a very exclusive club, the Opaline Green club!

From the photo it looks very very nice.

Hopefully mine will look as good as that (one day)

I've always wanted an early car and that's just the sort of thing I'd be looking for, it's the sort of thing you kick yourself for not buying 2 or 3 years later when they're nearly all gone too!

The trouble is I've already got one Maestro I love to bits, and because there are "other cars in my life" aswell I only need and have space for one at the present moment in time. How frustrating.

It would be very easy to start getting carried away but I'd rather devote full attention to two or three cars I can handle, for the time being at least. I've only just sold one I bought with good intentions and neglected, which didn't do it much good.

If it's as good as it appears, the above would definatey get my seal of approval, this is the sort of thing that's well worth spending the extra money on at the buying stage and saving an absolute fortune in welding later on.

It doesn't look good,Jon. I had the same problem a few months ago, with people telling me to buy a VP on ebay ;) and i crumbled! So,if you can't beat 'em, join 'em........bid,you know you want to! :toothy:

Ooh it's quite local to me! Only 13 miles away!

Thing is, really really can't afford another car, :spanner: and it'd have to live outside, which would be a real waste

I can be very a impulsive buyer which is fatal (and has cost me dear in the past - Rover 825), if I went to have a look I'd bite their arm off. But no doubt at the cost of something else, so it's not going to happen unless I were able to find somewhere secure to store it in the medium-term. :(

Any garages for rent in your local area jon ;) :)

Jonathan

The search continues. You'd think with it being so rural nearby there'd not only be lockups around but disused barns/farmland etc. I really don't want to bite off more than I can chew though.

You can still get to it via http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_search.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=ANY&model=MAESTRO&min_pr=75&max_pr=&postcode=SW1A0AA&miles=1500&max_records=50&source=0&sort=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH
which is what i use to search for maestro made by anyone as they get listed under MG/Austin/Rover

ben rawlings

Jonathan

I'm glad this one's staying within the club and that you're happy with it. When I mentioned it to someone I know specifically looking for a good 1.6 manual the colour killed it! I couldn't realistically have taken on another Maestro either.

Apart from a new sill though, how can you 'improve' on perfect? :)

ben rawlings

the advert for the car said 'superb condition'
it definatly is'nt that.
i'l be fare, its in good condition but it needs a bit of attention here and there. its definatly got show car potential.

not bad atall for a 23 year old car.

p.s how old does a car have to be before it is classed as a classic?
