Would anyone possibly have a radio security code for a Phillips R570 radio cassette player fitted to my 1991 Maestro, I have tried quite a few different number variations but have had no luck,

if its the original radio, i would look through the rover manual/info that came with the car, owners often write down the number here.
alternatively, if at some stage the radio has been decoded before, the code is often writen on the outside of the case, so if you remove the radio from the dash you may find it there.
to be honest no one's going to know the code for your radio on here, if they did then what would be the point of having a code?
if you still cant find the code, and it is the original radio, I think rover may have the code on record for your car's vin number? alternatively to this you could pay for it decodeing, this can be done by some car audio companies.

ive heard in the past that you can de-code a radio by putting it in a plastic bag in teh freezer overnight.
this might be rubish though so i wouldn,t risk it.
best of luck tracing the code
it may work , but because the display is liquid crystal, it would have froze that too i would have thought :horror:
I had no code when I got my R400. A call to the local dealers and a copy of my V5 by fax later, and they called me with the radio code, emergency door access code, and all the other info I was missing.

If it's not the original radio for the car (ie the VIN is no use), many Car Hi Fi shops offer a 'decoding' service for around a fiver (round here at any rate). You may need to produce ID but as it's genuine that's not a problem.
When a place did this for a friend's R570 (I think) about 10 years ago they reset the code (he found the original 'slip' a few years later, d'oh!), but it worked fine afterwards.
On these Philips radios, the delay between inputting a wrong code doubles each time, the first 'pause' being a minute. So it doesn't take many wrong 'goes' before you are waiting a long long time for the next attempt  .
Even more fun when your radio LCD is dead so you can't even see what you're typing in...!
