MG 2.0i - Hub nuts stuck fast, I dont think theyv'e been removed since the day it was built.
How do I get them off? Ive tried the following:
Long lever and bar - 1m lever, full body weight hanging on it.
Impact Wrench.
WD40 for a few days... and repeat above.
What next? Do I really have to revert to paying a garage to use their Oxy-acetylene torch?

To get mine off of my TD I used 2 helpers a 3ft breaker bar with a 5ft scaffold pole slipped over it. it took two people to turn the bar with another sat on the car to stop the wheel from spinning. I bent the breaker bar but thankfully it didn't shatter like the last one I tried to undo it with.
Brute force is the only way. (I presume you've tapped the staking out first! :p)

Stake is out.... and im correct in assuming both sides are threaded as normal right handed?
Brute force? I've bent my fave breaker bar.... Ive snapped the wheel-nut spanner I welded to a socket (quite impressed my weld survived!).... I think the next thing to break is my arm.
I surrender. I'm going to pay a 'pro' to oxy-ace them off!

yes both front ones have "conventional" threads. I can recommend machine marts breaker bars as they managed to cope with what I've hurled at mine so far.

Yes every toolbox should have a tony. They are great at removing siezed hub nuts and gear linkage roll pins! :spanner:

The other helper was me :fim: it was most undignified to have two of us hanging off the end of several feet worth of leverage, but we finally got it undone...
I gave up on my Monty's o/s/f hub nut last year and went to my mechanic - he had it loosened in about 30 seconds. How he did it I do not know (I was away from his garage for about a minute!) but I wish I could summon up such powers  .
Incidentally, on the rear hubs, the near side hub nut has a left hand thread.

Hi Dave, Rather than hanging on the bar with body weight, Much more power is achieved by pulling up on the bar, as you use your arms, back and Leg muscles. Always worked for me. ;)
Cheers Gary :)

Also if you are still struggling getting someone to heave on the long breaker bar whilst you bash the end of the socket/breaker bar with a big hammer. This can help to free a seized nut. Its worked for me a few times before in the past.
The problem with lifting upward with the long bar is that quite often you simply lift the wheel fronm the ground and allow it to spin. This is where someone sitting on the brakes and another sitting on the wing help a bit :D
