I put one in by just pushing the seal in place. It was a while ago now, I think I sat the seal on the glass then eased it into the window frame. I don't know if it would work in reverse or not tho (ie pull the seal out)

i asume you are talking about a maestro if so the way i have done it before is this - fold the rear seats forward lie sidways acros the car suporting my back agaist the bodywork and push gently (do not kick) with both feet over as much of the window as possible and push harder until it pops out into my asistance hands.
I know this is a rather brutal way of removing glass but i have had at least an 85 % sucess rate ;)

I once watched a window fitter putting windows with rubber seals in (unlike the bonded windows that are used more often) and he used a long piece of string slightly thinner than plastic washing line (tent guy lines work well) the string was threaded through the plastic nozzle off a silicone sealer tube the bit with the point on, the string was pushed into the seal all the way round and then it was all offered up to the window aperture and from inside the car the string was slowly pulled out, as it came it pulled the lip of the seal over the thin bit of bodywork and hey presto!! I have since used this to good effect to fit a few quarterlights to my cars, it's not a good area around here.
I always found the best way of getting the windows out was to find two donors, cut the seal from one to keep the glass intact and smash the other to keep a good seal, but good luck removing it in one piece.
