HEAD GASKET REPLACEMENT ATTEMPT, ON A MAESTRO 2.0i NON-TURBO 1992
Have got to the last couple of things before taking out the big bolts (trying to replace the head gasket). . .and in true style, the Haynes manual has started to talk in a foreign language, not offer any photos, and generally **** me off, right near the end!!!
I need to disconnect the fuel lines, that is at the fuel uptake side, the fuel filter side and the carb side, with the accelerator cable attached to it.
It says 'unscrew the 'screw' which holds the fuel line to the side of the head . . .thing is, i can't see any screws, only a huge mount, 'bolted' not 'screwed' onto the side of the head, with the fuel filter hanging off the bottom of it . . . so I am toying with the idea of unbolting that . . is that what the manual is suggesting?
It Also tells me to disconnect the fuel inlet pipe from the uptake type thing, but doesn't mention the outlet pipe, do I disonnect the outlet pipe too? Do I leave the uptake thing connected to the head?? or unbolt it? thing is If I do, then I will need to get rid of air locks later,,,,,right?
At the fromt of the engine, they say disconnect the high pressure lines . . .or something like that . . .are these the 4/5 metal lines coming out of the bottom of the carb type thing (the area where the accelerator cable is connected)? do I disconnect them on the carb side? or just before they go into the head/injector type area?
Don't want to screw the fuel system up, so would be really greatful if someone could tell me what to disconnect so that I can do my head gasket . . . . .
Any help would be hugely hugely appreciated . . . ! ! !
