Bristol Classic Car and Motor Show 2005

http://tinyurl.com/3vj2x

This great event features both classic car clubs and dealerships displaying new vehicles. There are also traders and autojumblers.

Last year the MG M Group put on a small display of MG 'M' cars and hopefully we can do the same this year. So why not bring your MG Metro, Maestro or Montego to Bristol to take part in this great event.

Bristol is a great engineering capital, being the birthplace of the world's first suspension bridge, steam driven iron-built ship and the first and only passenger-carrying supersonic aircraft. It's also the home of Wallace and Gromit and Holby City.

So make weekend of it if you are travelling from further afield. If you are interested post below or e-mail me if you would like further details - matthewsemple@hotmail.com

Date: 12th June 2005
Time: 9am to 4pm
Venue: The Downs, Bristol
Cost: £5 per car (proceeds go to Barnardo's)

if my car is even half ready you can count me in, possibly with another Maestro Turbo from Swansea if he has the time. Bristol is a very pleasant place and hopefully in June, the sun will be shining - reminds me of my younger days  It is the day after my 22nd birthday however so if I look like I am in pain please tell me its my own fault and slap me.

Fantastic! :D

I'll be there again with Maestro Turbo number 96. It was an excellent day out last year - highly recommended. It would be nice to get a good number of our cars there.

Thanks for going to so much trouble to organise an MG display Matthew, a very good day out despite having to leave at some silly hour this morning to reach Bristol before 0900.

I know some of you will be expecting some photos so here they are: http://www.maestro.org.uk/pp_gallery/showgallery.php?cat=514

One thing though. Matt/Tony... is there something we should know about? All this interest in a load of Fords?

Thanks everyone who came along including those that came to see the stand. The stand got a mention in the local paper:

Bristol Evening Post (http://www.epost.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=144936&command=displayContent&sourceNode=144919&contentPK=12631477&moduleName=InternalSearch&formname=sidebarsearch)

Usual journalistic errors - according to the article it seems the MG 'M' Group has merged with MMOC

I will be posting up some more pictures on my website and a full review will appear in Forward!

Ahh well at least it is complementary unlike the MG1600 article which is good for both clubs and the cars in general which is the important thing.

Looks like a good day was had by all. Did you get a listing of who was there and in what to show the turnout?

matthewsemple
14th June 2005, 19:22
Yes, I have a spreadsheet with the entrants for the stand in 2004 and 2005.
I will be starting a list for 2006 soon. Now that I have discovered that we were the second biggest stand, I am going to aim to be the biggest next year.

A full show report will be appearing in Forward! in the Autumn ;)

In the meantime, I have posted a few pictures here (www.angelfire.com/home/mat99v/BCCS05.html).

MOTOR FANS HAIL CLASSIC CAR SHOW A BIG SUCCESS

16:00 - 13 June 2005

The Evening Post-sponsored Classic Car Show once again proved a popular attraction with an impressive line-up of motoring history. Everything from the humble Austin Seven to a mighty Pontiac Trans Am muscle car was represented at the show on Clifton Down on Sunday.

One of the biggest club stands at the show was the MG Maestro Owners Club, which has a loyal following.

Club spokesman Matthew Semple said: "This year's line-up was the best we have ever achieved and to get four of the rare turbo-charged versions together at the same show is fantastic."

The Bristol and district branch of the Morris Minor Owners Club also had an impressive display, with almost every model, from saloon, convertibles and vans, on show.
