A while ago a remember a topic on how to find out where your car was registered.

There was a website referenced which you could type your car registration information info into, and then the site would tell you which part of the world your maestro came from.

Does anyone know the address of that website?

Do you mean identification by the last two letters e.g. FA= Stoke-on-Trent, HG= Liverpool, BA= Manchester, LG= Chester, RY= Leicester, NB= Manchester, FM = Chester and so on?

I'm sure you know already - you identify the location a car came from like so: e.g. number plate M364 NOA - 'O' & 'A' define the location, in this case it is Birmingham. I have memorised lots & lots over the years as I had one of those I Spy books with the registration lists in the back.

I have an old RAC manual (1968, I think) kicking about somewhere that has a list of all reg. letters and where they come from.
According to this, my van came from Manchester. (E969WNF)

What happens if the car was a cut and shut? would it say Guil-chester if the front was registered in Guildford, and the back and manchester? silly i know, but hey.. you have to think of these things
