This is not particularly important but I don't know the answer so I'm asking you lot!

My remachined S-Series engine has a blanking plate on the camcover where the fuel pump normally screws in. Is that original to the engine, and if so what car(s) could it have come from? - certainly non S-Series with mechanical fuel pump...

I'm sure someone knows :p

The blanking plate is just to keep out the dirt when the engine is being stored and transported. They aren't likely to give you a free fuel pump unfortunatly so you'll have to find one from somewhere.

My new S series had that on too, but don.t worry just unbolt it and pop on your mechanical fuel pump (I took the liberty of replacing the gasket too, dammit I even replaced the fuel pump too). The blanking plate is used in electric fuel pump aqpplications, and I've kept my plate just in case I work out how to adapt a Rover 216EFi inlet manifold to fit...how about a Maestro Mayfair 1.6EFi. I like the sound of that!
