What condition is the camper in? It would be a shame for it not to be rescued :(

Back on topic, if this vehicle has been abandoned, and the Police have been contacted, they will make attempts to contact the registered owner, after that, it's up to the council to remove it or anyone else with a tow-truck... The law is simple and you can claim ownership if the previous owner no longer requires it.

its a 'g' reg with a bit of rust up round the door pillars complete interior and fully fitted.
the prob is the coppers here r currently working with dvla 2 scrap dumped vehicles and steve has an obligation 2 report it, and even if he didn't the landlady would.:banghead:

You could contact the registered owner by getting the info from DVLA. Again, if they dont want it, get a V62 and register it in your name, and away you go. The Police around here are less bothered, i obtained a Monty this way which has given me a lot of useful parts for nout.

i don't know if this applies everywhere in the uk, but the dvla have been in bournemouth the last 3 weeks clearing untaxed or abandoned vehicles. it isn't the council doing it its the plod and dvla and the police r putting them in a pound 2 go 2 the crusher no ifs buts or maybes. if u have any queries steve will answer them.

Think the answer is simple then, get there before the Police and DVLA.

If the car is parked legally on the road and is taxed. then the police won't remove it even if they can't contact the owner. So there may be some time yet for it to avoid the crusher. My advice would be to lock it up somewhere on the street and then contact the police DVLA etc. If no-one wants it I'd give it a home.

it is in a pub car park, not on the road and it has been abandoned.

We reported a car a couple of months ago dumped outside our place. The police said that even though they couldn't contact the owner they couldn't remove it as it was taxed. If it somehow found its way onto a public road it would be safe. If the landlady reports it there is the remote possibility that she might have to pay for it to be removed from her property as it is now "her" problem and not on a public road.

right lets all make a b-line for the camper car, where is it?

H48HPE

as ETV says it would be best to roll it out onto the street and lock it up, that would buy it sum time because to the police it would have been left there by its owner legitimetly and not dumped, then sum1 can contact the owner and take it off his hands.

I think theres more to it than you think though because 6 monthths tax is worth about 50 quid to the owner.if he dumped it he would have claimed that back for sure

Yes I agree. Might be worth checking that no-one has croaked it in the back. Also check with the police to see if it has been reported stolen. (Bit of a conspicuous car to steal though!). Bit odd that the windows are open though. If they were closed perhaps the owner was on holiday.

the bloke who owns it turned up.apparently he is a bit of a hard nut, which is y no 1 took any notice of it, the landlady was going 2 ring the police 2day 2 get it removed.
should have known we wouldn't get 1 4 nothing!!!:banghead:
