Oi Steve, re your first, errm, clue, that don't impress me much!
I guess I'd have to swear allegiance to the eighties, but also have a lot of time for the Beach Boys, Don Henley (esp 'Boys of Summer', '80s I know, but also as a member of The Eagles), Oasis and Heavy Rock from the 70s and 80s (much of 'The Best Rock Album in the World Ever I & II).
I'm also into Classical Music, especially Choral, Organ, Brass Band and Orchestral, and sing in a local Choral Society. Well, there's nowt wrong with a bit of variety, is there?

I get you now. (for the first time) Talentless you say? I think Girls Aloud are far superior to Firery Jack or whatever they are called in every way possible.
You're telling me that a bunch of deadlegs picked up from on the street have more talent than Girls Aloud, who had to sing live in front of large audiences and were subject to the public's vote to get thier places in the group.
I don't know how your son can call them "rubbish," they are one of the best groups around at the moment. And... who got the Christmas number one spot in 2002...

Lost my interest in alleged pop bands/groups, especially the 'manufactured gropes (sorry, groups)'. Absolute Rubbish. The local paper has items on Suzanne Shaw (from Bury, member of ex-hearsay) on a regular basis, the column's called "Where are they now" or "Dodo" or something...

There are some very good groups around at the moment but - as was ever the case (with a few notable exceptions in the early days of pop) - they are marginalised and rarely enjoy major chart success. The music in the charts hasn't been the good music of the era since the end of the 70s as it tends to be either novelties (Mr Blobby, Bob the Builder) or manufacured Tetris Pop dross (Girls Aloud, Blazin' Squad, G-G-G-Gareth G-G-G-Gates etc) that get into the top 10. All of these are embarassingly talentless but easy to market to the impresionable youth who prefer branding to content.

Guys, if you can't keep a conversation going without winding each other up, then I'll close the thread.
Also, just a few tips on forum etiquette:
1) If you're having a conversation between 2 or 3 people, why not take it to MSN? Otherwise it gets a bit much for people not involved to wade through, and can make newcomers to the forum feel excluded.
2) Pls don't talk txt msg spk - we do have non-English speakers who use the forum who may not be able to decipher it, and quite frankly I don't like to have to spend hours bending my brain to work it out either.

Thank you for saying that Maria :).
I agree totally. Lets keep txt speak to mobile phones where there is a practical reason to do so and (although by saying this I've almost guaranteed a typeo somewhere) lets make an effort to type in correct, full English.
Furthermore I couldn't agree more that two or three way conversations are best kept to other forms of communication such as PMs or MSN.
MaestroMatt is right, it is very easy to go too off-topic and the result is a thread, or worse a forum, that only two or three people out of the (currently) 122 members understand, or indeed ever read.
Bear in mind that although one thing in common brings us together on this website, everyone has different opinions and it is very easy to let trivial differences get far out of hand.
Remember: If you don't like a person's music/film/religion/ etc choices they've probably still got a very nice car, and that's the point!

I would just like to repeat the fact that I :censored: hate Sean Paul and his music, it makes me sick how he is using other people like Beyoncé to get his name in the charts. At the mo he has two songs in the top three positions and now Beyoncé has fallen for it.
I read the lyrics to one of his latest irritating waste of time and on pasting them onto M*crosoft Word, found that nearly every word was highlighted as a spelling mistake.
Take a look for yourself...
