Probably a search engine trawling the site to include in its searches. Or the server isn't timing guests out correctly.

Errm, 4 members and 24 guests a moment ago... no wonder the Forum is slightly slower than usual (or have I got another cr*p modem connection?)
And I 'm part of it this time!:laugh

I'll be honest, I haven't a clue why there are suddenly so many guests. We'll have to see if we can do a little digging into the IP addresses in case that reveals anything.

Well only yesterday there were about 5 on here...
BTW, Rich, who's that guy in your avatar?

8 members on at 2200 this somehow does not ring true unless there's a lot of interest in montys and maestros the total users are 32???

Don't forget that Prac**al C**asics added this web address in to their recent feature of the Maestro Turbo. That may explain some of the extra numbers.

A couple of minutes ago, 5 members + 39 guests = 44 people. Most ever 48 people at 00.18hrs 19/7/03. Amazing.
Re my avator, he's the dead (literally) opposite of me, and anyone with an interest in (American) Serial Killers will recognise him. Oh sh:censored: t, am I the only one? You should see what I'm lining up for new avators and signatures - not in the same vein, I assure you!
Any ideas yet? (Porbably not...)

so you have Ted Bundy, i think i might go for angelo bouno and kenneth bianchi but i can do a few more if you like (how far does your interest in this go??)

Errm, my interest goes a long way, but my photos don't. Have u read 'The Stranger Beside Me' (Anne Rule) and 'The Only Living Witness' (not got Authors' names to hand - something Michaud and Hugh Ainesworth?) - most disturbing but totally involving and enthralling...
Thank goodness someone else on here shares this particular interest of mine - it fascinates me, the Question "How can people f:censored: ck up, or be f:censored: cked up, so badly?".
Gary Gilmore ('The Executioner's Song', Norman Mailer - and film of same name) fascinates me (is that the right word?) as does the Caryl Chessman case (he was innocent, the phone call was too late!). Also, the Moors Murders Case is of local interest to me, as 16 Wardle Brook Avenue's 'remains' (a pile of fenced-off rubble) are about 15 minutes down the motorway and Saddleworth Moor isn't much further (but totally, utterly, depressingly bleak) - fascinating reading the books about it though! And as for Dr. Shipman... talk about a blighted Town... very sad.
Peter Sutcliffe was just a bit further away, but had local links with his murders. I've got a book by an Irish bloke called Noel O'Gara that states that Peter Sutcliffe was merely a copycat killer and names the bloke he thinks is The Real Yorkshire Ripper .
Now I've been rumbled, I'm off down a 'seedier' line - if you know your 'USA State Police Links' you'll get these easy - I'll change avator over the weekend...
The other other Rich.
PS You could have strung it out a bit at least...

Right, here's 'my' picture of Ted Bundy so the above makes sense and now I can change my avator...

OK, how's this for an avator. Who is he? Why is he on the 'net in the USA, on a Police website? He's not me!!!:o
04.16hrs. Me as a member (don't say any more...) + 39 guests... is this right???

39 guests at 4am? No that's not right, either there's a software bug somewhere or something suspicious is going on. Not to worry.

You're probably right, Maria:laugh:
Can anyone get it back on topic?

I reckon there is something wrong with this user count thing as I was on first thing this morning and there were over 40 guests. I think there are some users stuck in the system!

19th July 2003, 22:36
No the cause has been found... see another thread somewhere!
e692wtt
20th July 2003, 13:16
Aww, you moved the thread. I'm gonna throw me toys out of me pram now!!!:banghead:
The avator... hmmm... well... possibly... he's not a seial killer yet , but that's only because he's not yet been caught. Met him once though, quite disturbing and unpleasant.
The other other Rich.
PS the daft number of guests on various occasions... It was me logging on anonymously 44 times, and I'm proud, I tell you, proud!

Steve,
I can't ever remember Jim Royle singing that one?!
Mebbe we should have a 'Serial Killers Appreciation' page? Just a thought. That Ted Bundy book, it was Stephen Michaud and Hugh Aynesworth ('The only living witness', couldn't remember the authors' names in full).:o
