Having been rudely awakened by my alarm clock at 5am on a Saturday Morning :horror: , I left to travel to Ledbury for a meeting with Mick (deals with the Ledbury Spares) and Simon (Monstro Editor)

I am pleased to say the club has purchased some spares, focusing on trim and plastic mouldings. As these will be the parts that are difficult to get hold off in the future for restoration. However as most people are aware we are limited on how much we can purchase for financial reasons, and the amount of space we have for storage. For those of you who have visited the container you will realise the sheer scale of parts that there is.

From what I can gather Mick isn't planning to get rid of the spares in a rush, however they do have an issue on storage and would like to get rid of them as soon as possible. It is with this that I urge all members with some storage space to visit Ledbury, and purchase plenty of spares for use in the future when parts get scarcer and scarcer to find.

This list barely touches the surface of the spares there

Full 1.3 Engines Metal Bumpers and End Caps 1.3 Radiators Front Suspension Units Rear Suspension Units Rear trailing arms Bonnet Release Cables Diesel Fuel Tank 1.3 Petrol Tanks Brake Discs Exhaust Sections Black Dash Facias (Mk3 Maestro Dash) Lock Sets Handbrake Cables Rear Wipers Full Brake Setups Maestro Tailgate badges Wing Mirrors Seat Belts Wiring Looms Handbrake Lever Assemblys Parcel Shelfs Door Cards Gearboxes Battery Trays Speaker Grilles Switches Headlights Suspension Bushes

Unfortunately Mick does not post items so a visit will be needed to purchase parts.

Contact details:- Mick :- 01531 636252

Directions:-
Take J2 off the M50 and drive towards Ledbury. You're looking for a Murco filling station on the left hand side about 3 miles from the M50 junction.

He didn't give a price for things, as because of the sheer volume of parts it would be diffiicult to name a price to every single item. My advice is to ring and ask.

H48.., new 1.3 engines are also avaliable from Warwick for £100.

Doh! I knew I would forget something on information overload.

There is also a LHD Maestro for Sale (Black), it is in mint condition and has only done 12,000km. The car has just come back from Italy, so the dashboard has cracked, this is the only downside to it. Otherwise it looks and feels like a brand new car (built in 2000, G plate registered). Mick is looking for £1600 for it.

Just wondered if anyone had been down to see Mick recently to purchase spares?

I'm going on Monday for some bits.

Cool! As long as people are still buying parts, he won't have reason to do anything with the stock.

I gather that Rich bought some front hubs last Tuesday too. When I visit, I'll enquire as to the current/projected situation.

Yup, I was there last Monday (apologies for replying late to this, am catching up after a few days away  ).

I got both offside and nearside front hubs (includes driveshafts to suit VW-greaboxed cars, brake callipers and discs and pads!), a late grey handbrake lever and trim and a grey gearknob, plus a set of flexible brake hoses (all 4 axles), radiator cap, fuel filler cap and servo vacuum hose for a 1.3 (they are around £35 from Unipart alone!) for a hundred pounds.

Also available are around 10 fuel tanks, around a dozen 1300 engines, a few Van (low ratio) gearboxes, loads of grey plastic interior trim and doorcards and parcel shelves, loads of mirrors (just change the boss on the door and they will fit, apparently), front and rear suspension struts complete (lots) and rear hubs complete (lots - just fit onto the trailing arm). And loads of radiator caps, relays, switches, and a few wiring harnesses. Quite a few metal front and rear bumpers. And much more I have forgotten  .

Give Mick a ring on 01531 636252, say what you need and ask if he can supply. He doesn't do postal delivery, you have to collect (had lots of problems with damaged goods in transit) but it's a beautiful part of the country and easy to get to.

He's also very cheap - when a wheelbearing kit for one front hub on an early Monty costs around £40, it makes sense to change the whole lot (including the latest type taper roller bearing) for £45! That's what I did last week... (fitted new hub and driveshaft, but swapped the old brake parts as only changed the hub on one side so far - or rather, my mechanic did).

And there's also a left hand drive Maestro, untaxed and not MoT'd but in good condition that could be used as a donor... it's easy enough to get the rear plastic bumpers to fit, apparently, and it's dead easy to fit new front wing to suit the plastic bumpers too.

There is a lorry container literally full of parts relevant to the Maestro and a fair bit that will fit the Montego too, so much that part of the shelving has collapsed. We are very lucky - you can't get parts availability like this for any other 80s and 90s car at such low prices!

He has grilles, quite a few in the container.

No radiators that I am aware of (he didn't mention them, but I'd say ring and ask him - you can always get radiators reconditioned for around £30 anyway). They would only be radiators for the Maestro and Montego 1300s anyway, not big enough for a 1600 I would say, although they could be made to fit.

Loads of bumpers (and end caps too, I think).

No brake servos or master cylinders left, sadly (I was after one of these too). Slave cylinders and callipers you will get with the rear and front hubs (respectively), I do not know if he has them seperately.

Wing mirrors for left hand drive cars, he has many - all you need to do is remove the actual mirrors and their housings from the bit that mounts to the door (the 'boss') and swap them over onto the bosses on your existing mirrors - it's a bit fiddly but dead easy.

I also forgot to mention that he also has front lower suspension arms available - to suit your new front hubs and suspension very nicely, Sir!

Much of the stuff he sells will also fit later 1.6 and all 2.0 Montegos and all 1.6 and 2.0 Maestros, but the engines, boxes and front hubs will fit Maestro and Montego 1.3s and 1.6s (early Montegos with VW box) only (unless the 2.0 front hubs [and front hubs on later Montego 1.6s with Honda 'box] are the same as for the Maestro 1.3s and 1.6s, which I doubt).
But I believe the rear hubs will fit all models from 1.3 to Turbos, for example.

Ring Mick, then visit and be amazed at what is still available. He also only takes cash, by the way...
