Hiya, I've got a front wheel bearing playing up on my December 1988 1.6L model (it has a diesel engine now but I think the hubs are original). I had a look at my Haynes book and it only mentions the two piece bearing. I went to the Motor Factors and he tells me that it is the one piece bearing that I need so now I'm confused. Does anyone have any idear which bearing I need before I start dissassembeling??? I also read in a previous thread that there are two types of two piece bearing which makes it even more confusing!

From what I have read (not experience), one piece bearing I would have thought.

Two piece bearings are for the older type cars from memory, and weren't very good.

If i remember right there are 3 types/sizes.
All the below are approximate and i seem to remember that there are Ch. number breaks with these.
1984-86 1986-88 1988-93

If you DO need a later/single piece bearing let me know (PM/email) as i have a brand new one and it will probably be cheaper than the factor.

Thanks
;)

Thanks everyone. The chap in the motor factors persuaded me to buy a single piece bearing while I was there, after reading your replies it sound like he's given me the correct one which has put my mind at rest.
