As this site is so good and there is so much helpful advice on here it'd be nice to share it with other maestro and monty owners. We all look out for them I'm sure and I was wondering if we could all do out bit to advertise the fact that there is this lovely resource and bunch of likeminded people out there.
What I am suggesting is whether it might be a good idea (or otherwise) to do a bit of promotion for the club/site? I was thinking of a small card/flyer advertising the club and website that we could download and print off ourselves. Then if we see a local meastro/monty in our travels we simply slip a flyer under the wiper.
I realise that there are pros and cons to this idea but what do you think? It'd be cheap/free (for the club) well targetted, and may attract more members.
What do you folks reckon?

Personally, I like! I see lots of Maestros and Montys in daily life. More often than not we wave/flash lights too..:D
It's a nice feeling when you find some kind soul in their 2.0i is flashing you on a roundabout to let you out! Theres an MG Turbo lurking hereabouts too..anyone got one near Madeley, Telford?

Other Clubs have used flyers to increase their membership in the past. Not a bad idea..

Fantastic idea!!! I say yes, its bound to do no harm, and will definately increase hits to the website and membership.
Congrats on a cool idea!

We did have flyers, and then did all sorts of complicated things like changing the club name, and then changing the logo.
I think Jonathan's in the process of redesigning the flyers so hopefully we can all get out leaflet-campaigning again soon :D

People are often amazed that there is such a Club as this, especially Maestro & Montego owners, when you tell them. Flyers will allow us to let even more people know.
How's about a prize for the member who 'gets' the most new members with their flyers every year? Year's free membership, mebbe? Just a thought...

Not sure prizes would be such a good idea. We are all in the CLub together, competing seems wrong to me.

I though I already replied to this thread with this comment... I think it is a brilliant idea. I'll certainly be slapping those on Maestros and Montegos.

Yes it's been on my "to do" list for nearly a year now, I just don't get as much time as I'd like to keep up with these things. Next time it's a wet day, I'm bored and the Treasurer's feeling kind enough to release the money I need I'll see what I can do... ;)

If the design is put up here on the website then I'm sure none of us will mind printing a few copies off to flyer the cars in our area so it should work out cheap for the club. That way the whole country gets done, the club isn't out of pocket and the membership and activity on this forum increases!

Steve, you're probably right about the 'prize' idea being against the supportive, non-competitive ethos this Club engenders... as I said, just a thought...
I'll be able to print off Flyers at work, no probs. On me own little Deskjet that they don't like me using...

If I can ever get near the printers at school for girls printing pictures of Blazin' Squad, I will print off a few Flyers myself. :banghead:

'Blazin' Squad' are a 'group' (there are ten of them) of teenage scabs you could find down any back alley that have limited vocabulary and brain cells, and have stupid names. I think they are classed as a '(c)rap band'

as there seem to be more monty's & maestro's down here than anywhere else I think I'll need a few reams of paper, spot on idea though.
From what I've read on here it appears that the cars are few and far between,,, in a neighbouring rd I have 2 montys and at least 3 maestros, it's only about 2000 yds long!!!!!!
there is an abundance down here so I'm gonna see if I can get some cheapies for parts,, I have space for a few so it'll be a good source for you lot hopefully (I'll see what I can do...no promises)
ps
am I forgiven Maria?????????

F170-tell me about the printing... I Work in a school!! All day long my printers get a hammering from junk like that..:banghead:
Unfortunatly for them, as Judge Dredd would say : "I AM THE LAW!"..and you never argue with a systems admin if you don't want a slapped wrist..;)
It's funny though...you see all the lads looking at Scoobys, aRSe's, GTi's and drooling..then they catch my desktop with some of the MG/Maestros on there and all i hear is "Oh WOW!! Who's is that? WHAT is that? Thats nice..."...
Several of them are rather taken with the idea of the Maestro now..;) I must STOP corrupting young minds...

Hehe, I know that one, Wonko! I used to have a roaming desktop when I worked at college. I loved the reactions when I'd logged in somewhere and Muddle was sitting on the desktop :D Best one was when I had a whole lab full of machines with me logged in to install something, and a class of students walked in
The reactions started with "Who's put that on there?" and "What a waste of a good paint job!", through, after realising they were in the presence of the owner and asking more questions, to "are you going to fill the back with speakers?" "No," I replied, "then I couldn't fit the camping gear in!". "Oh, it's a camper van? COOL!" :D
