Hi Gang!

Finally I managed to spend 1/2 hour yesterday and got the engine of my MG 1600 (R-series) running (after having the car since 6 months!)...
The Error: It wouldn't ignite. Why? Distributor drive put in wrong. Cure: Take a sharp look (Engine on TDC, look if cyl. 1 is closed or open - can be felt with the fingers, look which cyl. the distributor arm points at). In my case cyl. 4 should be ignited, but the distributor showed Zyl. No 3. So I changed all ignition leads accordingly (2 places back).

First try: Backfiring. Retard ignition.
2nd try: Running evenly -- Hurray!! :)

But then: After filling in the coolant and having the engine idling for longer... There is oil coming from the engine. It is coming from the nut covering the chain-tensioner. Is this something common? And if, what is usually needed to cure this? It is an quite large amount coming down there...

Regards,
Alexander
