never fitted one to a maestro, but i know they perform very well on other cars, and your fuel costs will dramatically decrease!

If i were clever enough id fit one to my wheelbarrow.. but alas, i am but a simple IT technician!

does that mean that you have purchased a new barrow,i did not think there was room on the barrow for lpg?

no new barrow as yet, but the mark 2 version of my home made version is soon to be released. Ive made it out of mud, like they used to build houses in the 17th century - so we'll see how that turns out.. and if its sucessful im going to fit a blade to the back so it can double as a lawnmower! :-) The possibilities are indeed endless...

Has the wheelbarrow got a cat on it, or does it jump off when you go near???

I fancy fitting an lpg kit to Monty (easier to fit - carb engine) but this will be a long term project. You can fit kits of varying complexity to efi engines, ranging from the same as on a carb-equipped car to fitting seperate injectors for each cylinder (necessary on cat-equipped cars).

the cat stays there til i start moving about rubble, then it jumps off... presumably for some well deserved milk, and an odd rat or mouse. After about 20 minutes, or maybe even 21, it'll come back, donyt you fear, it'll be back arlight!!!

I say "Yay" to lpg kits, there should be more lpg resellers around so that people dont have to drive 20 miles to the nearest station that stocks it.. alternatively, you could karate chop the gas man when he comes to read your metre next, and plead for a few 100 ltrs of lpg before you let him go... Just a suggestion!

Mmmmm not looking so attractive now they are thinking of taxing it the same as vehicle fuels. Might be handy if you have a gas tank in your garden and some of the right hose though!

The Government 'undertook' to 'cap' lpg fuel duty to (artificially) accelerate its useage, but this 'cap' was only for a few years. After that??? And 'after that' is fast approaching... Don't imagine for one moment that lpg prices were reduced for 'environmental reasons', however popular that notion may seem...

Have YOU ever known a Government give something for nothing? Apart from Working Families Tax Credit, and... oh it gets more like the Life Of Brian "And what have the Romans ever done for us?" sketch... some things, mebbe, but not reduced price fuel for non-monetary reasons in the medium term.

How do I get off this damn soapbox?

You're totally right mate.. all the goverment ever thinks about it show to screw us honest and decent people out of more money, then it spends it on stupid things like the dome, or by giving ministers huge expense accounts and furry hand printed wall paper.. You'd be surprised how many people just want to get out of this country to avoid the man with the grin and his followers, because we pay so much money out, and what do we get back? What you say about LPG is so true, and is just one subject of contention...

The time is coming where people will have had enough, and then we'll see if he still has a grin! Bring back Guy Fawkes is what i say. he had some sense!!!

The low tax on LPG can only remain for a short preiod of time because when it becomes more popular there will be a shortfall in revenue being raised. If the government, any government, decided to keep LPG fuel cheap then they would have to raise revenue somewhere else (income tax, NI contributions etc) or cut spending on education, health etc or go further into deficit.

No government would want to do these things so LPG looks set to become more expensive. It has nothing to do with the environment as environmental benefits from LPG will not result in immediate fiscal savings.

The man with the grin ? What about his missus???

If you want to see where a chunk of your taxes go, look at the 'Jobcentre Plus' jobfinding system...

My best mate has a 'trainee' in the shop courtesy of the Jobcentre, and he gets £75 a week towards the 'trainee's wages (the 'trainee' is nearly 50 and knows as much as, if not more than, the gaffer).

Another mate works for a private firm who does the sort of 'trainee placement' on behalf of the Jobcentres, and the firm gets paid over £100 a week to 'maintain and supervise' the 'trainees' as well as lump sums for placing 'trainees' and then if the 'trainee' stays in his placement for certain lengths of time... I'm talking of lump sums in the £thousands... plus the 'trainees' get their council tax and housing benefits paid (as applicable) and the first £75 of their wages is paid by HM Government.

Unbelievable...

Will somebody please get me off this soapbox, I've got vertigo...

The other other Rich.

PS having re-read the above, it possibly puts me in a negative light. I have nothing against the 'placements' and getting people back into work (having been one of the great unwaged for several years up to 1997), nor the supporting of these 'trainees' as they get back on their feet... but I have a major problem with the payments for 'supervision' and the bonuses for 'trainee initial placement' and for 'trainee staying at placement for certain bonus-qualifying periods of time'. Now these bonuses are a waste of money!

And HM Government is short of money? It'll only be a matter of time until Road Fuel Duty starts being (very) quietly shifted up again, you mark my words, so that lpg will still be relatively cheaper than Petrol & Diesel...:censored: :censored: :censored:
