OK, I suspect the vibration plagueing my TD estate is the driveshafts - it can't be much else now.
Apart from the obvious question "Has anyone got a pair they don't want?", what other models use the same shafts so I broaden the search?

ARGHHHH. I just thought I'd escaped from them when I logged in here. (I've spent all of today trying to change mine)
All 2 litre petrol and diesel driveshafts should fit.
Are you sure the driveshaft needs changing or is it just the outer CV joint which is almost always the first to go and which can be replaced seperately?

I have a pair attached to the engine and box I gutted from my smacked TD.
Make me a sensible offer

They're not noisy - but I've still got this waddling side to side at 40-50mph and I can't think now that it's anything except the inner joints.

Make me a sensible offerI dunno what's sensible - I've not bought 'em before. Would someone else like to suggest how much these go for?
Where are you, anyway?

I'd not think waddling would be caused by them. Outer joints knock/clack when going round corners at first then they gradually get worse. Inner joints just rumble. Neither would be likely to give you and handling problems in a straight line unless they are really bad, (and then they'd be really noisy too).
I'd look elsewhere for the problem myself. (Suspension bushes and wheels/tyres would be my first starting point)
Sort of related to this topic: Which outer CV joint is knackered when it starts to clack going round right hand bends? Am I right in thinking it is the drivers side one?

Well, it's got new tyres all round and the problem's still there, so it ain't that.
It feels like the engine's trying to shake itself loose but the mounts seem fine.
And yes, it's the joint which is flexing most which usually complains when turning. Right turns/OS joint.

East Kent.
I've not sold 'em before either, so I'll have to look into what they're worth, if you did want them.

A bit of a random thought here but a problem I've had in the past is the bottom shock mounting bolts where they mount onto the hub have come loose. This leads to the the camber of the wheel changing as you drive which gives a rather disconcerting "floaty" feeling. Also worth checking is the top suspension mount and its rubber as these have been known to come loose too.
Does the "waddle" come from the front or the rear and how old are the shocks?

Does the "waddle" come from the front or the rear and how old are the shocks? The front. The shocks seem to work fine over speed bumps and things.
I jacked up the front yesterday and ran it with the wheels in the air. It's the engine shaking that seems to be the problem. I've put the old bottom mounting back on and will see if that helps. I'm really at a loss with this one - I can't for the life of me work out what's happening.
I remember the old B-series Maestros had a damper bolted to the front of the engine - sounds like exactly what I need!
