I've got a little problem that someone might be able to help with.
When the handbrake is applied you should get the three brake warning lights (never worked out why you needed 3!) but unfortunatly mine have packed up. I suspect the switch that senses the handbrake is duff but anyone know where it is and how easy it is to replace?

The switch you are after is on the base of the handbrake lever, remove the rubber gaiter and have a look - it's works just like a door light switch.

Do the warning lights come on when you switch on the ignition, if not it may be something else.

at the handbrake pull the wire off for the handbrake swtich and earth the wire if this is the fault the lights on the dash will come on.

Cheers I'll take a look. My bet is it is the switch as it just stopped working one day. Also I think the low brake fluid warning light still works when you test it.
Cheers for the info I'll take a look

This may not apply as you say the brake fluid warning light works.. but.. in case of need.. check the connection of the brake pad low warning light sensor, you'll find it near the front calipers, (one on each) and its very common for the wires to come loose from the brake calipers, or for there simply to be a loose connection. Is one of them is not connecting properly then the two warning lights that you're talking about wont operate.
Hope this helps.
Im off wheelbarrow shopping! :)

Yeah I know those silly wires mine have already become detached on the caliper and they never seem to work anyway. But no all 3 lights failed simultaneously (sp?) so I suspect the switch.
I'll take a look after it hopefully passes its MOT test

yes, they do! :-) but its all a big con, cuz after 3 years they're rusted to hell, and you can see straight through them!

Should get a galvanised one... me dad's was ok after 20 years in the open...
Re the wires becoming disconnected at the calliper, this happened on my Monty and only the bottom Amber light stopped working... hey ho. The other two Red lights were fine.
