Remember someone was selling knockdown kitted Maestros? Are they still doing it?

Someone's just shunted the wife's Maestro auto up the arse and it's not really reparable (mind you, his C-Class Merc coupe is a bit of a mess, too...the joys of having a towbar). Finding a good auto with all the toys isn't going to be easy, but I was wondering about putting her engine into a better body.

Unless anyone happens to be selling a late model auto?

my commiserations! Other drivers..grr...

I'll keep my eyes and ears open....

I'd suggest an engine and gearbox swap into a new shell...thats what I'd do..buy a "runabout" and do that while I didn't need the car.

Fitting the shift lever to gearbox bits aren't a big job...I removed the ones from C370NUX(now expired) in about 10 minutes. I'd reckon it'd be easiest to change the entire engine/gearbox assembly in one...no fiddling with driveplates etc then. Pick a 1.6 "S" series donor car, and it would be a "plug 'n' play" swap I should think...

If I ever got H870 damaged irrepairably...I'd probably do the same...or even better, fit it to a montego estate...I've always liked them for some reason..;)
