Tony,

Although I don't know the names, I believe that jnf is several different shades of blue, with black sills.

This isn't my car, but mines the same shade as this, and this is Atlanitc Blue.

According to that list, JNF isn't there.

Last year i bought a Maestro Van from the Cheltenham area. I bought it from a independant trader and replaced the engine (the original one slightly pressurised the coolant system/head gasket, leaked diesel from the pump, and it ran into the alternator causing it to fail)
Looking at the number plates it had the original Rover "supplying dealers" name on them. The Rover dealer was one of the small country type garages (you know the ones,- that Rover took the franchise/ ability to sell Rover cars off and then tried to pass all the business to the larger dealers. Sound familiar?)
The Van was the painted Rover corporate colours from its era (1990/H reg) the "cream" that Rover painted most of its vehicles,( trucks included.) I am presuming that it would of had the Rover logo (in Burgundy) on the side as it looks very similar to the late parts vans that we used at the Rover Dealer that i worked at.
Now that you have read the "waffle" the important bit.- The van was the Rover "cream" in colour. This included the inner wings & all of the under bonnet, door shuts, rear bed and load space etc.All of the inside of the doors ( front amd rear ) too! Yet the paint code on the VIN plate refered to it as white!!
Working at a place that was able to access & mix paint (at the time) it showed that the paint code was for the "bright white"
(possibly white diamond)-This colour could only be found underneath the front carpet, floor pans/inner sills etc.
The question is does anybody ( i have rang Rover- no joy) know what colour this "cream" is and is it available and what code??
Thanks for reading all the waffle!

I think I was a touch up pen in rover creme at "rockbottom" discount in Nuneaton, I'll check.

Sorry Biglad, nothing on EPC about this light cream colour although I'm familiar with it myself. Its probably a fleet formulation, applied to all fleet vehicles using synthetic enamel. For ease of application I'm willing to wager that most vehicles started out finished in some kind of white-in your case White Diamond. Does your VIN plate refer to "NMN" with "LCG" trim? This denotes white diamond with flint trim. Might it be a good idea to contact LDV perhaps?

ok then what about trim?mine on the heritage certificate says the trim is osprey, ok what is that one?

Probably the colour of the trim, (I'm guessing it is grey)

In an early '80s AR brochure I have, there are a couple of different shades of Leather Trim on cars like the SD1 VDP (not relevant I know, but...) and among the shades are 'Flint' which if memory serves is dark grey and 'Osprey' which is light grey (as per your car). there are others as well, if you want I can have a butchers later on.

I noticed your car had red 'piping' around the leather seats - another reason to presume the car was factory standard combining MG with VDP features. Thought it could have been a VDP 2.0 EFi converted to an MG. Did a firm coachbuild Montegos in the past then?

tony

i dont know about any coachbuild montego,s,but all my paperwork say,s that its a mg montego still trying to find out who did the convertsion, going to contact the previous owners at ask them what they know,if i can .

Er, just a brief paint code-related question - What paint colour does JNJ refer to? I thought it was Zircon blue but I'd like to make sure!

Simon

Confirmation: JNJ is Zircon Blue metallic, BLVC 471.

Good news - Thanks Simon!

I was about to ask for a few cans of it as a stocking filler, so that I can touch up a couple of areas on the two new wings I've bought for A335.

Do you think that Isopon could be classed as a stocking filler?!

Just to bump an old thread back to the top, but I have a mystery vin plate. It lists a paint code JNN and a trim code of JNG. I can't find them listed anywhere. Can anyone tell me what they are?

:)

Ahhh, the wonders of the internet! I found This (http://www.minicolours.co.uk/index.cgi) website - a photographic archive of British Leyland and AR colours with their relevant codes. JNN is Eclipse Blue apparently.

Quite a useful link...

:)

Eclipse blue is JNN or BLVC 459 and JNG is Bounty Blue trim, I've just found out! Its on Millview.
