May seem like a fairly obvious problem, and not very seasonal I admit. But if i fully open my sunroof I cant get it to close. The metal strip that reduces drag wont fold away without me getting out the car and holding it down(very awkward) Any suggestions?solutions

The metal wind deflector is spring loaded and should pivot fairly freely. Try lubricating the mechanism as this may well be the problem.

Being at the front of the roof the deflector can rust and seize. Later sunroofs did without the deflector. Your mechanism may benefit from lubrication, otherwise remove the headlining and swap the whole sunroof unit from a scrap car. You can even use the Montego electric one if you fit the Maestro's glass panel.

On each side of the sunroof is a 'leg' of metal that causes the deflector to 'drop' when the sunroof is being shut, and on my Monty these literally 'fell off' the deflector panel and seemed to 'disappear' (I think they are 'loosely mounted' at their bottom ends, on the sunroof tray) but they were lying there still... It's easier to understand this with the sunroof half-open in front of you...

Might be worth having a look and seeing if this is a problem - but giving the machanism a good dose of lubrication will definitely help.

I had the same problem that e692wtt described except it was the top end of the "legs" that had rusted away preventing the wind deflector from folding away.

I also had this on Maestro once. I took the deflector off - it is held in by about 8 screws and is easily removed. That is if you cant get the deflector to go down properly. You could always put another deflector on at a later date.

Take the sunroof out completely and use the car as an alternative fish pond! :-)

Just joking! :nonono:
