The fastest was a Nissan Sunny. 0-90mph in 2 seconds... on a trebuchet!!!
Well, what can you expect from Jeremy Clarkson!

I have pics of one on my website!!! My friend owns one...exactly like the red one pictured. I have engine and CVT autobox/Interior shots.
I'm "chief spanner monkey" for it. My Verdict? Nice!
He has the "HSE Luxe" version. ABS Bodypanels, Spaceframe Chassis, Monowiper, HLBL, Leccy windows, 6 speaker stereo, Central locking, Alloys, etc etc.
Fully automatic, 2 cylinder engine, with Fi...buzzy little thing, but economy is about 70MPG! I'm VERY tempted to buy one myself...no rust..
As a second car, or short run motor..you can store it outside for years with no ill effects. Headlights put ours to shame too..
I've driven it, and I like! No servo on the brakes though..the only failing IMO. Kept up with me @ 70MPH on the dual carriageway in Telford a few times..much to the annoyance of those we passed! :)
I have monthly calls off the main dealer/maker too..Microcar direct. They keep checking to see if we're 110% happy with it..any problems/queries etc. I have one issue with the heater, and they got the individual responsible for commisioning that car to call me, and send me diagrams and a build record!
Dealer support? Incredible.

Do we get 'points' for spotting which parts bins have been raided, and which cars have, errm, contributed?

The Saxo eh? Why that then? The Corsa back lights..yes..said that on my site..:)
The engine and Gearbox are one in a huge range...the CVT is from a snowmobile..(yes, seriously).
The wheels are not a parts bin thing...I'll tell you that..ask me how I found that out...:banghead:
For a "short trip" car, it went from Shrewsbury to Cornwall, and Wales without missing a beat..:D It has about 31BHP...but in a car that light..upto about 40 it's a match for a 1.6 maestro...it's a swine to not wheelspin it actually..
It's no more a parts bin special than most cars on the road..;) The reliant he had before it was Mini and Metro/Allegro/Marina with a fibreglass shell on it..
(in fact, I just realised....my trailer is Marina based... )
