I'll just look back on the :censored: week I've had there, and give out a bit more. From now on, this thread is against Vauxhalls.

Problem is, the Mk4 Astra is still stronger than a Maestro. I'm a Vauxhall fan aswell, apart from Nova's of course.

Hmm, I admit, I do like the new Vauxhalls, but I can't be sure about the Astra MK5 concept for next year. ;)
The Vectra and its' estate version the Signum are both very nice cars...
D87 SMW
5th July 2003, 08:34
This is the only model of the Vectra saloon where the rear looks any good!
MGTurbo
5th July 2003, 08:42
And thats a Vectra Hatchback SRi.. Which is the model my dad current has except in Jade Green. It's a far cry from the old Vectra model and fully deserving of credit. There's even a new tuned up version of the Gsi which is capable of 177mph!
I've had the pleasure of driving many of these top model Vauxhalls as im working at a Vauxhall dealer at the moment. The Zafira GSI turbo would make a great family car, The Astra SRi 2.2 was voted Hot Hatch of the year and you can see why, the build quality and feel of the whole car is far higher than you would expect. I've even driven a Signum, and its not out yet! Just an odd looking Vectra really with a few more toys.

The GSi Vectra has a 3.2 V6 24v don't it? No wonder it can reach 177mph! That's bigger than the engine they have in the Omega - and that's a b****y big car!
So you work for Vauxhall, too. I don't like it much.
The Zafira is a good solid family car, I'll give it that!
All new Vauxhalls are of good build quality, far superior to F*rds!
Not sure if the Sugnum is officially out yet, but there are a few at our Vauxhall dealer that go out on the road sometimes. Elegance, Elite and Design I think the range is. I first saw a Signum in the garage and I thought what the hell is that, it's a bit big for a hatchback!
There is an audio commentary on the Vauxhall website for the Signum, and it describes how it doesn't have a large overhang at the rear, and more about how it has a solid quality feel... www.vauxhall.co.uk/signum

Dam. Why am I on here talking about Vauxhalls when I could be down at the garage with the Maestro!  :banghead:

My personal hatred for Vauxhall's includes the Chevette, Calibra, Tigra, Agila, VX220 and that new Meriva thingy.
Does anyone else find the idea of a sports car with a Vauxhall badge utterly rediculous? I have yet to see a VX220 outside the showroom.

I agree, the Meriva is :censored: wierd! The Tigra is a haidressers car.
I see three or four VX220's outside our showroom, but they dont go anywhere. In fact one's a VX220 Turbo. (2 litre as opposed to 2.2 litre)
Still, it's a horrid car just the same.

Nope. No-one's guessed it yet...
is it that micro car from the other thread?:banghead:
Going back to vauxhalls, my dads company vauxhall vectra V reg is awful. The drivers door has fallen off twice, the computer needed replacing because it cut out every time he stopped, the air con packed up, needed a new compresser, oh and the best one, a comman engine fault. The cambelt snapped, some 15thou miles before it was supposed to, well actually, the top cog broke up, snapping the belt and buggering the engine up, which needed a new cylinder head if i remember rightly. Apparently the dealer said its a common thing with Vectras and Omega engines. Lucky for my dad he got the delaers 3 cylindered corsa for a week which sounded like a diesel, was so basic, and the only good thing was when my mum was sick in it!
Fortunaly all the thousands of pounds worth of work was covered as it was a company car.

Ah, engine heads. Had a lime green Tigra in the garage a few days this week for a head. There is no room at all in the engine bay of the Tigra. Horrid cars.
is it that micro car from the other thread?
Well, Tony, tell me your email address in a PM and I'll send you your prize.
Oh and whoever designed the Zafira cant have had any legs. Well you try and find room for them in the back of one of those things!

Few of them in the garage too. Looks like there is lots of room for rear passengers, but when you look inside, you do get quite a surprise! That's about my only problem with the Zafira.

Top Gear magazine recently stated about the Vauxhall Tigra:-
Models recommended - none
About sums it up really! :)
I remember sitting in the back of one in the showroom when they were launched and my head was touching the rear window glass! So tiny and so unsafe...

I like Vauxhall Viva HB & HC modles, chevette and Mk 1 cavalier. If I win the lottery I want a house with a big car park to put all the different cars in, Id go mad buying all sorts off stuff.
I really like the Mk1 escort and Vauxhall Viva HB looks,
Trouble with Vivas is finding them cos they rust really bad, a lot worse than a meastro

I've just done some work on a C*valier. The owner's gear lever knob split in half! The side bolsters of the seats (its an SRi) have got gaffer tape on them. I used to find that Cav MK 2's used to cut me up at roundabouts. Not many left now though thank goodness. All the reps>taxi drivers>boy racers>banger racers have driven them into the ground thank goodness.
Safety? Here's one I did back in 1989:
thank you for my prize ,got it today ,i will try not to break them .

I can't believe someone has not repaired that microcar!! Good christ..you can just bolt the new panels on in about 30 minutes..and you can get them from the dealers easily!
Looks like a Microcar Virgo..HSE at a guess.
Where is that located? If it's not too far away I'd be tempted to put in an offer!!
