Depending on condition of the engine, anything from 50-60mpg

Apparently the record is 90mpg around a race circuit (in a rover competition to see who could use the least diesel, or so I've been told. anywhere from 40-70mpg is doable depending on the driving how heavily laden etc it is.

I drive a non-turbo car, and believe the van weighs similar but I don't know about the gearing - if it's higher it may do less to the gallon.

Anyway, being a very sad person I actually log every fuel stop and how much fuel I use and can say that the consumption has got down to 51mpg on a run to Monaco at 80-90 mph on the French motorways. I've had it up to 56mpg at the highest. It normally sticks around 52 to 53mpg and does not vary a massive amount depending on how you drive. My normal driving style is not flat cap man slow, but it's not baseball cap boy fast either.

I have a 1993 2.0 litre diesel van, with 129,000 on the clock. It is usually driven either unladen or with not-very-heavy things in it and regularly returns 60 mpg. This is driving so as to keep up with town traffic and up to about 65 mph on open roads.

Far more variable than the diesel van but I'd say anywhere from 25-45mpg. Our 1.3 (van gearboxed) saloon gets about 40mpg on a good run, and 32-35 round town.
