If anyone wants the chance to see F170 GGT in the flesh (metal), he will be coming to the Peterbrough event this year. ONLY IF he recives a new or decent gearbox. Can anybody help....??? :( :banghead:

The original one has been replaced with a naff one, it is noisey and generally worn...

I have a 4 speed box lying about. Nothing wrong with it, I removed it to upgrade to 5 speed.

I've got a good 4+E VW box from a golf - straight swap Assuming GGT is a 1.3/1.6

I'll even throw in new flange seals and a litre of oil :)

Errm... it takes 2 litres if it's a 5 speed VW 'box...

Same 'box, though (even though ratios may be a bit different). In scrapyards our cars were often stripped of the VW 'box as replacements for knackered 'boxes in VW Golfs and Scirrocos - if you wanted a replacement VW 'box for a VW it cost a lot more than going and getting a Montego 1.3 or 1.6 5-speeder...

I believe the ratios in the golf 4+E 'box are these same as those on my 1.6LX... can't remeber the codes (stamped in to the casing) but they are the same
