Do any of you have any info, no mater how small, photos, line drawings or written on the Montego 2.0GS Saloons that went out to Gulf States area.

They were all carb 2.0, same as UK 2.0GSi spec with the following changes, LHD, full leather, green tinted glass, overspeed warning and air conditioning.

The only info I can find is on the parts microfiche.

I have worked out that the 2 large gromets on the top bulhead area on later maestros and monetgos is for the air con gas pipes...

I have aquired the following over many years, it would be good to eventually get it all fitted....

Heater unit complete, condensor, main wiring harness, cooling fans (2 fitted), some of the gas pipes and other small bits.

Thanks people!

(if of any interest, I can take a few pics of the controls etc)

They also had a cooling duct for the alternator, came with a fully enclosed cam belt and had an 82 dgeree stat fitted.

Can you post some pics of these bits up? I am interested to see what they are like...

I have been searching for these parts for years, and even decided to bit the bullet and buy them from Rover only to be told, "NLA in 1998 mate"!!! :banghead:

Where on earth did you get them from??

I think I've got a spare one.... but only that! Not got a spare heater unit. The good thing is that its all vacuum controlled, so the rotary controls are nice and smooth....

Spare one 'eh!?

How different is the heater unit? I have been considering shoehorning a rover 25 evaporator into a standard Maestro heater unit, as the cold air is only availabel to face vents all the time, if one could go in there, it could work, as the condensor would probably fit in the gap thats created down the side of the front panel with a 1.3 rad.

I assume there is an extra drain on the heater for condensation from the evaporator?

Do you have a compressor, and is there an electric clutch on it?

Heater unit is a totaly different lump alltogether. Nothing is interchangable with the UK spec one both old and new. All the distribution flaps have vacuum servos and also room is made for the evaporator.

Not got "the" compressor, but got most of the important bits. Will bring the spare controls to BL Day.

That would be a superb start.

I know it can be fitted, and it was a semi secret upgrade to the LX's restoration. Its a big question of what parts from what cars will fit or can be shoe horned into the space behind the dash, and engine bay. It must be possible to do though.
