Hi all,
I'm just wondering how much it is to have the rust around the winscreen repaired profesionally? I know it involves removing the windscreen and a new one being fitted.
Cheers
Dean.

My bodywork collegue reckons its a nightmare job if rust is more than just surface . If its holed the panel then the only permanent way is to cut out all the rotted metal and weld in new. Thats the problem-welding in the screen surround area due to heat distortion and the tricky shapes involved. Filling the holes will not last so is a waste of money really due to the screen coming out etc (bonded).

I have a naff seal also on my MG around the drivers side of the windscreen.
Is this easy to sort out, or will it remain as good as the paintwork on it for a while longer?

What do you mean about a naff seal?
There is a rubber insert that goes all round the windscreen that actually covers the true windscreen seal behind it. Sometimes this outer trim is a bit loose, however a sign that the proper seal on the glass is broken is a clouding effect on the glass that sometimes appears in the corners.
The only way to cure a broken seal and the cloudng on the glass that results is a new windscreen and seal.

Doesn't sound good :horror: , we have a rather extensive welding repair to be made to this area soon on one of our maestros (if anyone has seen it on the ex-police maestro, they will know how bad it is) Lets hope Dan's welding skills are up to the job :D
