i lost all maestro keys and now havent got one. wheres the number located that i can take to the locksmith and he will cut me one?

Hmm, I don't know the answer to the question, except that as far as I know the code was on the original key ring, stamped into a small metal tag. However, if the same thing happened to me, I'd nip down to the nearest scrapper and get a selection of Monty and Maestro keys - you'd be amazed how many will usually fit your car. The door locks are very easy to open, the ignition and boot need a slightly better match but, again, it's not too unlikely that say one in about 10 would fit.
Just to give you an example, the key of my white 1989 VP opens every maestro I've tried it in while the keys of my 1983 VP open and start a 1986 1.3L that belongs to a mate.
Don't know if Rover could cut you a key if you gave them the VIN number...?

Take your V5 and some ID and rover will cut you a key - costs about 6 quid.

ahhh i aint got one of them cos i live in the channel islands. i guess my log book would be the same thing
