Last week in a scrap yard (Furber Bros) in Childs Ercall, which just outside Newport in Shropshire. There was a red G reg Maestro, right at the back of the yard. The front doors were missing but the back ones were both there and after a very brief inspection looked ok.
If my memory serves me it had only 15000 miles on the clock !

Right at the back of my local scrapyard is a 'rare' A reg 1.3 HLE reddish-brown in colour (Anyone know the name of this colour?) Looks in good condition. I can't remember the mileage, but I know it wasn't much! This is the Maestro I took the ORIGINAL PUSH BUTTON RADIO from! Sadly I'm selling this due to differing connections.

AH yes, the fun of getting doors off a scrapped maestro! Tell me, why do they manage to put all their maestros either right in the corner where the muds at least 5 foot deep, or have other not so nice cars pressed up against, on top, and undernearth all the maestros so you can barely get into the car, let alone open the doors enough to get them off? this should be illegal! :p

Enough said though, there are some very nice examples of maestros in scrap yards where the doors are imaculate, and of course the rear doors are the easiest of parts to take off, unlike the front if you have little room... and unless you have metalic paint (which is very tricky to respray properly) you shouldnt have much of a problem being able to respray the doors to match your car.

Get in there, and get them out! :-)

F170 GGT, if you want to know the name of that colour, go to my website ( http://www.bltin.com ) and click "Paint and Trim" - Tragically there's a list of the 1980 paint options.

Thanks Peter. I think It's a faded Clove Brown colour. Either that or a dark Oporto Red.
