all in the fourm can any body inform me on re- placing the oil seal on a 2000.cc deisel van engine.the one on the left hand side of the engine . also were can i purchase a seal cheap thanks peter the tank

I'm not sure which seal you mean, is it the crank or camshaft seal and on which left of the engine, the pulley or the gearbox end?

The easiest place to get a seal is your local oil seals place, usually located on an industrial unit somewhere. All you need is to take them the old one (or the code numbers from its face) and they'll get you a new one no probs.

hi, e t v thanks for your message the leak is on the crankshaft side were the pully is will the sump have to come off to get to the seal as i will have to find a sump gasket thanks again peter

From memory the sump doesn't have to come off, however the pulley can be errr interesting to get off (check the haynes manual to make sure though as I really can't remember for sure. When the haynes manual says the pulley bolt is a tight fit they certainly aren't exagerating. It took a 5 foot scaffold pole and two big lads to get the one off of my mates car. :horror:
