I had my MG Maestro 1600 tuned at Airey Tuning in Hampshire and it totally transformed the performance of the car.
Tom Airey tunes cars with SU and Weber carbs and has experience tuning Minis, Metros, Maestros and Montegos. He can tune the O-Series Turbo and he prepares EFis for racing by fitting FSE valves. :D

A printout of the power would have been better... i cant read the dyno from there :) Only asked not to be awkward, was genuinely interested to see how much power it was knocking out after all these years..
where and how much please :)

Tony, it's five miles north of Petersfield in Hampshire so a bit far for you I would have thought. £80 to test the car, tune and retest. It takes about an hour and a half. £70 to fit an FSE valve.
Gareth, I took the car there to have the hot starting, stalling and uneven idle sorted out so he didn't test it at high revs. All the usual MG1600 stuff. Tom used to tune a lot of MG1600s that the dealers could not get to run properly when they were new so he really knew what he was doing.
It was producing 68bhp at the wheels at 5000rpm - max power for an MG1600 is produced at 6000rpm so I would estimate that my car is producing about 96bhp at the flywheel. Manufacturers figure was 103bhp in 1983.

Just took the Midget with new race engine to Tom Airey. Short running in session, Weber sorted with different jets, new condenser and points fitted, timing set up. Final figure of 92 at the wheels at 6100rpm. Total time about 3 hours, total cost £235. Will comment on performance after Cadwell track day this Friday. HTH. :) :)

Bugger, just 8bhp short of the magic 100 @ the wheels.... i was close ;)

Yes Gareth, but A) correct plug type which he had run out of = +2bhp B) he wouldn't use max revs as it isn't run in, it may give a few more horses at say 6500, and C) when run in and loose it should give another 2 to 3 bhp, so it should be close to the magic 100 by the time it gets to the 'Ring. Here's hoping :D

286 cam wasnt it? Easily keep going above 7000rpm so i would expect it to be in excess of 100bhp @ the wheels, even more so as you say, after its run it properly. :)
