At the moment you need 300 posts for 3 stars. It should be more really.

does that also mean that our description changes as we get more stars as it changed from 'new member' to 'entusiast' when we gained a second star?
:)

1 Star = New Member
2 Stars = Enthusiast
3 Stars = Senior Member
There's plenty of scope for improving the system particularly the descriptions if anyone ever has any ideas.

The use of drainpipes isn't as sad as it may appear, I mean think of the weight loss. The general trend in racing is to make your car as fast as possible hence making it as light as possible. Gotta admit something more elegant could have been used though, however you don't really need a real roll cage on the roads unless you are a complete nutter (no offence to anyone).
I used a scrapped '87 1.6 maestro (engine on the way out/chronic tinworm) on my drive and in the fields and raced it as a bare shell/basic body panels and it went like a rocket...a hint of tyre complaint in third gear on acceleration! No spare parts went to waste by the way in case you're wondering.
If I keep waffling like this I'll soon become a senior member:)

You would never get a rollcage made from drainpipes past any race scrutineers. There are strict rules about the size, shape, location, positioning and composition of rollcages in motorsport. There is no way a drainpipe system would stand the impact of a high-speed rollover (trust me, I've seen a few - and the results!), and it's your life at stake at the end of the day. The scrutineers are there to check your car at the start of the race day to make sure it's in a safe condition and OK to race.
Chris will probably be able to give the exact details, but your rollcage should be metal, preferably from an approved manufacturer such as Rollcentre Safety Devices, and be at least bolted in, although in some cases they also require it to be welded in, and you must use reinforcing plates on the body.
I'll try and get some pics of the inside of our car, and the rollcage, next time I'm near it. Alternatively, if you want to see it for yourself, there will be Maestros (although sadly not ours) at Thruxton near Andover on Saturday.

I think we'll just use a standard windscreen company. Chris rang round to get quotes and the best was £70 +VAt fitted from National Windscreens. Need to sort out a time to get it fitted, then get a new bonnet.
