I would like to display my car along with some other MG Metro, Maestros and Montegos at the Bristol Classic Car Show at Durham Downs (near Clifton) on Sunday 13th June.
The picture below shows the Clifton Suspension Bridge which is on the corner of the Downs and in close walking distance of the show.
Is there anyone else interested in doing this? It costs just £5 and it is quite a big event with autojumble and family entertainment.
It would be good to put on a good show of MGM cars in an area not traditionally attended by any of the clubs associated with these cars. As it would be an informal entry Austin versions would of course be most welcome. ;)
Please contact me via e-mail if you are interested

So far we have seven pretty rare cars:
MG Maestro 1600
MG Montego EFi - B-reg (digital dash)
MG Metro Turbo
3 MG Maestro Turbos (Red, Green and White)
And maybe an MG ZR120
So if you would like join us and bring along your car that would be great. We are missing MG Maestro 2.0i, MG Montego Turbo and MG Metro 1300.
I phoned the organisers today to request the entry forms and I will be sending them early next week.

I have now received the entry forms from the organisers and I will be sending them off soon. If you want to come please e-mail me so that I can include you in the entry.
According to the letter I received, over 600 classic cars will be on show as well as dealers showing new cars, autojumble, trade stands and "fun and entertainment for all the family" The organisers claim that the event is "the biggest motor show in the West!"
The proceeds from the £5 entry fee goes to Barnardo's and all exhibitors will receive a commemorative plaque. :)

OK then.....please count me in, I should be able to make it! I will be in M170 RFA. I'd love to go in my genuine Turbo, but that won't receive any paint til next year as it needs extensive welding. Economics does not enter the equation as far as Turbo 399's concerned, I want a fairly pukka job doing on it.

We now have a black Turbo coming as well so all four colours of the Tickford bodied cars should be represented.

Advert in Bristol Evening Post (that's the paper that Grommit reads in The Wrong Trousers)

Here's the advert in the Evening Post to encourage autojumblers. It's a good omen because in the picture from a previous year there is someone selling spares out of the back of an MG Maestro! (circled) :)

Hi Tony,
I have no pics of the door cards but they are grey vinyl with walnut inserts and angled speaker grilles - same as Monty VDP. I was wanting £15 for the set but I am open to offers.

Well, it was worth me making the 140 mile trip down there to see everything. For the first time ever more or less I've been able to see other genuine turbos of each colour in the metal (virtually non-existent sight in my area). I also got to see the fully functional digital dash, which was far more professional than I expected - ahead of its time. I have to say I kept my engine bay shut most of the time as it needed a good clean and besides, I could have fooled people into thinking it wasn't a diesel!
ckon. It was scorching weather, and suncream was most certainly needed, as I've found out. Thanks go out to Matthew Semple for getting some rare cars together and choosing the perfect venue.

Thanks for organising our meeting, Matthew - it was a superb day out, well worth coming back to my "home town" from Northamptonshire for. It was nice to put some names to faces and see the obvious interest and respect our cars generated. I was pleased at no 96's first proper trip - 35 mpg at a steady 75 can't be bad! I've tried to put a link to some pictures above - hope it works.

As you can gather from the above posts we had a great time on Sunday and I have created a page on my website with a report on the event:
Bristol Classic Car Show Report (http://www.angelfire.com/home/mat99v/BCS2004.html)
Thanks to (in no particular order):
John - for arriving first even though he came from Cheshire
Phil - for bringing a rare black MG Maestro Turbo from Northamptonshire
Paul & Sue - for getting the white Turbo along despite the shock problems!
David and Barry - for bringing two cars despite the fact I sent the passes to the wrong address...
...and finally, my girlfriend for bringing the MG Maestro 1600
For those of you that have not seen four differently coloured MG Maestro Turbos parked next to each other - (full size image available on the report)

I have downloaded the pictures from my digital camera and put them on one of those MSN pages that Phil used:
Bristol Classic Car Show (http://groups.msn.com/MGMaestroImages/bristolclassiccarshow.msnw?Page=1)
I'll be putting them on my website soon but it was quicker to upload them there. The picture below is my MG Maestro 1600 which is awaiting restoration!
