Rovers' have a different stud pattern to Maestro, you're best bet is some good old fashioned 16inch wheels from a MGF of MGTF....

If you do a search on the forum you'll find a wealth of info posted on what fits what however I'll try to summerise.

Monty and maestro CAR wheels are a rather odd size, shared only with MGF's from more modern cars and old triumphs etc from older cars. The PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) (the distance between diagonally opposite stud centres) is around 98mm (it is an imperial measurement which I can't remember)

The maestro van has either 100mm PCD or 4.5 inches depending on whether they were a 700 or a 500 van and also their age I think.

Later model rover or MG cars (not the MGF) have 100mm PCD so they will fit some vans but not the cars.

It is rumoured that rover 800 wheels fit the van with the 4.5 inch PCD but I've yet to try it on my van to make sure.

The PCD difference would mean that you are basically stuck with wheels made for the MGF /TF as the holes in the rim are a different distance apart compareds with most other cars and the rest of the new rover range. As to offsets I've no idea at all.

You dont have much choice. Everything in the MG range except the TF won't fit because they use a more universal fitment.

I'm sure the PCD for the Maestro and Montego is 95.25mm which equates to 3.75 inches..... I've said it, now I bet I'm wrong!

Fords and Peugeots IIRC use 108mm (4.25 inches), but the centre hole on a Ford is smaller than that of a Peugeot, so Peugeot wheels onto a Ford will go, but the Ford wheels will not go on a Peugeot.....

I was under the impression that Rover changed over to 100mm when the collaboration with Honda was started?

My mate with the Capri has looked into importing some american racing wheels for it, I noted with interest that most of the styles are availiable with a 3.75 inch 4 bolt drilling..... Food for thought!

The collaboration with Honda was as early as the late 70's, but that didnt stop the Maestro and Montego having an imperial wheel fitment.

You could use the van hubs for the front which would be an easy (ish) swap. However the rears could be much more tricky as the van has a leaf spring arrangement so I doubt the hubs are the same.

The PCD for a Maestro is definately 95.25mm (3.75") and as far as I am aware wheels from MGFs, Triumphs (TR7 definately), Lotus Elises(!), and some other older classics will fit (at least in terms of the PCD - you'll have to check the offset).

However, all the above may be academic if you pay the £100+ or so that it costs for an adaptor plate which can be obtained from MGF specialists on the web (I've seen it advertised but can't remember where). These adaptors mounts to the 95.25mm hub and have bolts which slide to allow the fitment of wheels with a range of PCDs, so the world is your oyster!

I know of a member who uses the adaptors I think - can't remember his name but he had / has an avatar with a white Maestro and big alloys on it.

D'oh! I thought someone would pull me up on that! What I meant was that the Acclaim, the 200 and 200/400 were all really honda designs, therefore I guess it was just easier to use the honda hubs, and in the purest (cant think of a better word!) sense, the Maestro/Montego were a continuation of the British designed ARG products, eg. following on from the Maxi/Ital/Allegro etc., which the Acclaim was not, therefore the Maestro/Montego used the same sort of hub spacing as their forerunners......

Purely speculation! Hope it makes sense.....

Hi Drue1,

How much is your budget for wheels and tyres?
