Just trying to get to the bottom of my over fueling problem(high emissions on MOT).

My maestro turbo has been fitted with an auto choke and not sure if its been fitted corectly as when the choke was pulled it just stalls. This may sound weird but with the stepper motor removed you can blow through the hole on the end then turn it an eighth and you can not. When i removed it one of the seals was split so me thinks this is the reason for high emissions

So my question is, when the engines warm should that hole be open or closed. It would be handy to confirm this before i re assemble it.

Oh and also when the engine has been warmed up and done a couple of miles the engine idle speed picks up, is there a simple reason for this.

any answers gratefully recieved:confused:

Iam guessing that you mean you have a manual choke fitted, using part of the old stepper motor?

The hole should be fully closed when the engine is hot.

The inner rubber seal on the choke if split, will cause a rich mixture all the time even if the choke is fully closed. If a slither of rubber is missing from the seal then it could have found its way into the float chamber. If it ends up in the main jet this will cause fueling probs later.

See what it is like when you have fixed the other issues.
