How long after the headgasket job did it start to smoke.

I did the gasket on my old Meastro TD and within 2000 miles I was doing it again due to smoke and it eventually failing, again.

I wasn't aware but they recommend that the headbolts are changed as well which I didnt do.

Where are you located and what do you want for it.

If your serious about selling, throw it into the for sale area.

Check the PCV valve isn't stuck open before condemning the engine. Some smoke is normal, they tend to puff a little blue on idle, (particularly NASP ones).

Black smoke may indicate an EGR fault (simply blank it off).

hi thanks for your fast response, it started smoking almost straight away, its a shame because it never smoked before changing gasket, we drove it to repairers only blowing steam, drove very wellas it does now , my mechanic disconected the breathing system which seem to help, i beleive its building up presure in the crank case. i am located in in sevenoaks kent. i would sell for £200, as said its in great condition. hi thanks for reply, it never smoked before head gasket being changed, when i collected from my mechanic friend it was smokig blue smoke, it starts and pulls like a train, he disconected the breather pipe which helps a bit but not good enough, if i drive down motorway it doesnt smoke half as bad as when idling.
