Hi i want to fit a brand new Ferrari F50 engine into my maestro. I want to keep the maestro gearbox to work with this engine though.

How could i go about doing this. Can you give me some instructions or a guide. Thanx. Pictures are welcome if you have done it before.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a serious post!!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have the old engine out at last but there seems to be a major problem. I have had to buy some new engine brackets as the oldones were not good enough. I'll fit them in tommorrow.

I have managed to reattach the gearbox thanks to the help of PVA. The standard maestro exhaust manifold looks like it will fit. To make sure of this my mum will be going to safeway tommorrow to buy some 4 fingered kit kats. The foil should weld on to it perfectly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'l keep you up to date on tommorrows findings.

p.s. E_T_V i am not a troll, would you like a Mcvities chocolate digestive??

Please do keep us up to date. I am currently in the process of fitting a Spitfire engine on the roof of my Austin Maestro City X. Should be good when i'm done

What's the point - just buy an MG Maestro Turbo (see attached ad) :D

It all sounds feasible apart from this - Nestle stopped using foil in KitKat wrappers a couple of years ago. :banghead:

Yes matthew, I was thinking that, but do not fear because you can get around this problem by getting a multipack of twin fingered kit kats which still use the foil wrapers! so say for example you thought you needed five standard sized kit kat foil wrapers (old school) then you would need to buy ten twin finger kit kats to get the same ammount of foil.

Problem sorted

Hmmm, while we're talking about engine swaps, does anyone think that an engine from a Boeing 737 would give better economy than the R series MG1600? Saw one up the scrapyard earlier  , might have to weld three maestros together to fit the engine in (not 100% sure where im going to sit yet!) :nonono:
PVA glue though? When my mate fitted the rolls royce merlin engine into his capri, he only needed a smidgen of gloy glue to get the transmission to fit!
I won't even begin to tell you about another of my mates' mum, shes got an engine from an aircraft carrier in her Rover 214.....
And another of my mates, currently running a five engined Rover 416, one engine for each wheel and one for the roof mounted gun turret! And still he complains of a lack of low down torque!

LOL are you mucking TERM or are u just incredibly stupid????? LOL aircraft enginbe on a maestro, i think some of you need to be told its a MAESTRO ffs not a nissan skyline, y do you waste so much money on maestro's????

This is gonna be funny u guys are gonna reply with all sorts of crap now!! he he.

Come on TERM we need pics! Also you could use some 'Bacofoil' its up to you tho. It'll be cheaper to get this then get 10 twin packs of kit kat. If you wanna eat the kit kats tho, fairplay to you.

Mackinator, I suggest you go away and read the FAQs and terms and conditions of using this site, especially those parts referring to conduct towards other users. I don't think "...or are you (BTW, in English it's YOU and not u) incredibly stupid".." quite meets the standards.

It's called sarcasm or subtle **** taking actually, and it seems you've completely missed it. Anyway, if someone wants to spend £1000's of pounds of a mere Maestro let 'em do it

I just liked the idea of those kit kats!

Whilst driving home today I was thinking about your idea of using PVA glue on your gearbox joint and whilst it might have stuck them together now, i think ten mins after u drive through your first puddle the gearbox will spit away because PVA dissolves when it gets wet! perhaps it might be better if you use one of those hot glue guns to joint the faces? I know that stuffs water proof

Please let us know how your getting on. Please dont be put off by childish behaviour of some on this forum, those of us that matter on here know thet you're for real, All that talk of trolls was so embarassing.

Cheers

Pot, kettle, black.

MG Maestro Turbo - faster than a Ferrari - cheaper than a Fiesta - I guess that's why we "waste" money on Maestros.

I'm just off to post some criticism on a forum for cars that I don't own or have any interest in - oh no that's not me, that is "TheMackinator"

I have just noticed that TheMackinator actually does own a Maestro. He is on another thread asking for advice about his steering. He is not quite sure what model of Maestro it is but he does know it is not a diesel. ;)

So, TheMackinator, welcome to the world of Maestros and our forum. Hopefully by visiting frequently and posting you can learn about what great cars they are and a bit more about your car. Bring it to a show and someone will be able to tell you what size engine it has and whether it has PAS, etc.

TheMackinator

yeah, that'll be great. think cos some people have a few problems with a maestro they think all maestros are like that.

p.s mines a 1.6 sl with power steering mmmkay (i'd love to bring it to a show but i live on an island called guernsey so getting to shows is difficult)

Insulting, childish "troll" posts aside, I will say that I am sorry, but that story just doesn't sound convincing.

See, no insults intended. ;)

Hmmmm, has no one told you that you need to be over 8 years old to play with a socket set.
