greetings,
f111 has just come out of the lock up and after a head gasket change and a lot of other work it is now burning oil and producing whitish smoke even at idle. before work comenced there were no obvious signs of the engine burning oil.
the head gasket that i put on was a rover one from rimmers who took the vin/ engine number and gave me the set their system said was the correct one. i noticed on removal that the old gasket was the oval oil hole one and the new one was the small round type-later type? the valve stem seals did not seem to fit as securly as on other engines i have put together. There was no excessive bore wear and the valves were well fitting in their guides.
i have disconnected both the oil breather system and the turbo from the inlet air system and the engine still smokes. on remoing the plugs , no4 looks oil fowled.
Any ideas? - the car will be for sale shortly but id like to sell it running sweetly and with an mot.
many thanks
