Can anyone help! ? I have a 1983 R series 1.6 HLS Maestro. Under the air filter box is the vacuum pipework. This car has been stood garaged since 1995 and the vacuum pipework has basically disintegrated and fallen off. I have the 5 port plastic piece that all the vacuum pipes meet at but no idea where the pipes go to! Can anyone draw me a schematic showing where these pipes go? I'm at a loss as the manuals I have don't help. If you can help please answer here or e-mail me at njcheal@googlemail.com. Here's hoping. Regards Nigel

I've got access to a 1600 HLS, but I'm away at the moment, and won't get to the car for another three weeks, otherwise I would have gone and had a look for you.

Hi, The diagram here in this link, although it is for the 1.3 the first of the two is basically the same for the R series, you should be able to use it to re-plumb your car ok.

Many thanks for schematics and thank you for you reply. Hope you European tour goes well. The schematics help but which connections require which size of pipe? I literally have the 5 port central connector and little else. My car is early to the degree nothing is blanked off and there is a pipi hanging out of the bulkhead that presumably goes to the heater matrix. I think I need a drawing which shows simply the 5 port connector with where each goes and big or small pipe. I also have no t piece connectorrs. Are these pipes and t pieces available anywhere? If the "T" piece connectors are the same as mine in my Montego then Rover 200/400 ones are the same apparently so they can be got from a breakers.

Many thanks for all your help. When I get the drawing from Mr Gelder plus all your info I should be able to sort this small but irritating problem out. Just goes to show how owners clubs really can work.

It may be an idea to get hold of a copy of the Legacy EPC disc. It lets you know what goes where and new part numbers. It has helped me no end.

You can get T pieces from most garden centers as the sell them for irrigation systems
