My recent MOT was passed in spite of a few problems which were rectified for the princely sum of £4. Anyway, one problem was a blowing exhaust and I plugged it with expaust repair putty to get it through the test.
However, I am aware that it really needs a complete new exhaust (front, middle and rear sections) and want to ask the following:
Will an MG Maestro 2.0i exhaust mid and read section fit a 2.0 litre diesel if I use a diesel front section? The bends seem similar. Any ideas?

Why not buy a diesel exhaust?

I'm guessing he has one lying round somewhere in his garage! (I have a nearly new one too but I'm not sure whether it is a monty or a maestro one how do you tell?)
The way to tell for sure would be to have a look in the parts book, as they give pictures but more importantly diameters of the various pipes. Also look for matching part numbers on the EFI and diesel exhaust. I can't check at the moment as I don't have the rover EPC at work.

Or it's the bargain exhaust currently on eBay...

It's Ebay. Not sure how much postage will be from Inverness though! Maybe I won't bother.

When I priced up a new exhaust for mine it was about £40 so bear that in mind when bidding.

If its any use knowing, the front end of the TD exhaust is the same on the Maestro and Monty.
A good online reference for exhausts is bodyshopwarehouse.co.uk.

E_T_V, where offered you an exhaust for £40? I've priced one up at just under £40 per section - and there are three sections!
Anybody else know where I can get a cheap exhaust for a diesel? I don't mind fitting it myself.

I'd ask your local motorfactor for a price. Also which parts do you actually need as the front pipes don't often go. My local factor quoted me for my van 70 quid for a full system or 40 odd for the rear two bits.
Also bear in mind that some stainless steel systems can be custom made for not much more than a standard steel one. As no turbo diesel system exists for the van I think I'll have to get a stainles one made.
