guys today i tried starting my mayfair 2.0 efi she started first time ok but 10 minutes later i had to stop her then tried starting her again and she would not start i have replaced the fuel pump and all the relays are ok as i swaped them all around and swaped them all back again could there be a fault with the wiring somewhere like the earth to the pump or the live feed to the pump ? what does the balast resistor do can it be bypassed in some why or is that not a good idea? i can replace it with a spare one or a new one but its getting on my nerves as i needed to take her in to work for the welding to be done. your help would be great ful

OH I forgot to say there is a spark she will fire on easy start.

my guess would be either contaminated fuel - when did you last replace the fuel filter? - or the in-tank gauze filter has collapsed and caused a blockage, which can be fixed by undoing the pipe off the tank and poking around with a length of welding rod.

its not a fuel problem there is fuel coming out of the pipes it just seems like no power getting to the fuel pump it self.

Hi Steve are you sure the fuel pump relay is ok. You say you swapped them over but that will not tell you if the fuel pump relay is faulty because it is controlled by the main relay via the ecu. The two relays in question are the two silver ones under bonnet, one is main relay one is fuel pump. The main is ok as you have a spark, but the fuel pump relay could be faulty.
Cheers Gary :)

problem solved bow it was the balast resistor under the two relays i changed it and now al lis ok i may hunt round for a new one just in case and also fit the fuel pump that i got yesterday too.
cheers one and all
