Some of you may have seen a report on this car on 5th Gear. Take a look at this website, as I found it rather interesting.

As a believer in this type of thing, I thought it would be interesting to hear your views. ;)

Ah yes, a F**d Crapi, I remember seeing something like that on TV a few years back. Lynz reg is E969WNF, so not too far out.

Hmm, I remember being told about a Dodge van once that they thought was possesed. However saying that H902's mileage turned to 666 as the last 3 digits, so I drove round works carpark until it moved on!

I take all that sort of thing with a pinch of salt, even though one of my housemates is doing what can only be discribed as a wizards course with another bloke who can "pick things up" and does card readings. The card readings are worringly accurate though, weather or not the rest of it has anything to go on, I dont know, and almost dont want to know.

That's just as well then!

Maybe it's because ARK 666Y is on a Ford? ;) :D

Oh, why is it me that has to say this.....

"People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!"

My mate has got an immaculate A reg 2.0S that was in pine green (who has ever seen a capri in pine green?), he's had a full respray (opel krypton green) on it, and to be honest it looks lovely, but i'm only jealous cos hes got all that space to work on it under the bonnet!

Sorry but your point regarding Glass Houses elaborate please???

Yes, well...having read it, I say let it argue with a compactor. Talk about crushing the spirit out of things, eh? ;)

Engine running on, mirrors dropping off, car rocking of it's own accord..yep, Ford engineering, that. Don't get me wrong, I like the Capri..but that's silly.

Surely, if an evil force was going to posess anything, it would have better taste?

The only evil thing about an older Ford..is the engineering, the dealerships, the quality..aargh...take them all away and burn them..please.

Does it way the same as..a duck? [I]

Ahem... I actually quite like my Mk2 Escort - you can't knock the crossflow lumps for longevity, ease of maintenance and cost of parts etc.

I bought it as I've been hankering over my youth, and I had a 1.3 Popular Plus when I was 18.

Proper bo in an old skool stylee they are, I tell thee...

What im trying to get at it is that the Maestro/Montego isn't exactly perfect is it? Electrics, headlining and oil leakage are three faults i can think of that were common on both of mine (1 x MG1600 R series and 1 x 1.3L), where as the capri, whilst being a cortina in drag and cart sprung, makes simplicity its strong point as it is therefore easy to diagnose and fix, unlike my maestro which seems to develop a new fault every two weeks or so.....

And besides, the capri is coming back into fashion with the upsurge of the 70's/80's tv shows, like the professionals and minder! Everyone still laughs at me when I tell them my cherished classic car at home in the garage is a 1984 Maestro, I am even known as "R Series Maestro Man" down at the local motor factors now, after the maladies of a new clutch, alternator, thermostat, carb gaskets..... They do ask me why I bother! My answer? "Someone's got to!"

I suppose the overall point im trying to make is that in the "ooh, you dont see many of them anymore" category, IMHO its a case of all for one etc., as in both the case of the maestro and the capri its been a fight to get them roadworthy (the maestro we are still fighting!), and both have good points and bad points, but as they are both in the "ooh, you dont see many of them anymore" category, the fact that they are about should be applauded and not poked fun at, I have myself considered tracking down a Yugo, which again IMHO belongs in this category!

Hope this is clear, it's beginning to confuse me reading it back.....!

No worries Ricky. I just feel my remarks directed towards the Carpi weren't particularly derogartory (could of said a lot worse lol). Ask any mechanic if they like working on fords and they'll slap you round the face(never mention a CVH).
Agreed Maestros and Monties are riddled with niggley little faults. But I think Capri have planty of people to defend them.

CVH = Satans own work, at least without optional solid tappets, and even then they're pretty bad.

Crossflow = Gods own simplistic, reliable creation which, due to being overengineered in the first place, can be bored out and tuned to beggary, and still remain reliable

Funny you should say that....
I reckon Lynz hated my Brother. When I was going to take him to the Train Station to go to Reading College when He studied there, I started her up and then she stopped and would not start again. So He had to walk to the station and I had to walk to work!
In another incident, we got going, and on the way to the Station, I had to stop at some traffic lights, and the Throttle stuck open! She never did anything like this when my Brother wasn't around! Spooky!

Hmm, dunno, but it could say something about all the girls my Brother knows at his regular job!
I was beginning to liken my van to Christine at the time, if you remember the Film based on Stephen King's Novel?!
"No S*****r ever came between me and Lynz!"

I'm really supersticious and that website made me laugh a bit but freaked me out at the end. I'm the person who doesn't walk under ladders etc etc. Don't polish your keys either, the last time I did that, I got done for speeding. Never praise your car, because it'll listen and let you down.

I'm not cranky at all, but you never know what's out there and, quite frankly, I'd rather not mess with all that "other side" business. I'll just stick to me Mayfair if that's all right, leaks and all!
